Makes no sense to me to sign RvP. Martinez and Hazard do because they are young, can develop so the cost isn't as bad but RvP is old, injury prone and will offer nothing to the team we don't have already.

Too old? See Drogba. We need CL experience if we are to win it quickly.

-- Sun May 27, 2012 12:08 pm --

I really want RVP.
I know he's an exceptional player who is available, but the players we have are also exceptional. If RVP came in, one of Aguero, tevez, Dzeko or Balotelli would go

Same scenario for Hazard. maybe not for Javi Martinez.

I am not sure we are really in for these players. Maybe we just have enquiries in, and we are waiting to see how the transfer market develops.

I think Hazard being at the derby suggests we are further along than that.

As players we have plenty of players who have played in Europe. As a team maybe not.

Sign RVP you lose a young top quality player, and maybe destroy some hugely valuable team spirit in the process.

Just read this about Van Persie:

Manchester City reportedly set to offer Van Persie a chance to join the Premier League champions, Arsenal are willing to make the 28-year-old the highest paid player in their history by agreeing a £130,000-a-week deal.

But an Arsenal source insists van Persie is not swayed by money and is purely focused on the chance to win trophies.

"Arsenal know it's not about the money," the source said.

"Even if they offered Van Persie what City can pay it would make no difference if he doesn't believe the club can challenge for trophies."

I think we'd need to get rid of at least 4 players that play even semi-regularly to make room for those 3. Selling Tevez/Dzeko, De Jong, and Johnson still doesn't create enough playing time for 3 undoubted world class players.

Dzeko will never be as good as RVP imho. As for team spirit I think he might already know a few players at city ;-)

All that said, I don't think Arsenal will let him go.

the only issue i can see with this is rvp and hazard are surely both gunna want the #10 shirt.

If that were ever to be an issue (which I don't think it would be), I'm certain RVP would take 9 or 11, I'd imagine both will be available come August.

For the record, before last season RVP managed 95 goals in 228 games or 1 in 2.4.

Balotelli has managed 55 goals in 148 which equates to 1 in 2.6 though hes much younger and hasnt had the minutes in those 148 that RvP has.

Dzeko has managed 140 in 299 which is 1 in 2.1. This is more games than RvP and hes 2 year younger. It also includes 40 games in Bosnia where he only managed 5 goals. Without this, his goal record is immense.

Dzeko scored 20 goals for Bosnia, 6 of them in friendlies

In Bosnia not for Bosnia.
