The squad will evolve and players that the manager doesn't rate will be replaced by those he does. This eez football. I can't wait to see RVP banging the goals in next season in City blue, and I'm taking note of all those who are saying he's ageing and injury prone ;).

Ha, ha, ha. It's always good to take a note of the facts.

I'm not averse to City buying a more experienced player every so often so long as that is the exception... and the player is exceptional enough. An Arsenal season ticket holder that I work with suggested to me that RvP always struggles with injury after international tournaments. City have the advantage that they can rotate most players and that will hopefully help to keep injuries down.

I'm not saying people shouldn't have opinions about potential targets, but it's getting extremely tiresome seeing City fans bitching about signings like RVP, Hazard and Martinez. You're talking about one of the best strikers in world football today, top scorer in the Prem last season, player of the year, a truly great player who any of our rivals would be delighted to have, one of the hottest young prospects in world football, who has the likes of Chelsea and United desperate to sign him, and a top quality midfielder who could cover for Yaya, play alongside him, play alongside Barry allowing Yaya to push on, or even cover for the likes of Kompany and Lescott if required. To be turning your noses up at the likes of these players sounds spoilt brattish to me. Sorry if that upsets some.

Pmsl at the no to RVP crew on this thread. Unbelievable. We had one of the worst injury prone players ever in Lescott and our staff Managed him through to a title without hardly missing a game. The onus on RVP would be less demanding at city and game time would be monitored to ensure his fitness, a fit Persie is a quality player.

If we get those 3 then there must be some serious outgoings with FFP in mind. Just have to trust our leaders on that. Perhaps Prestwich Blue could shed some light.

Also means we are gunning for Real Madrid and Barca quicker than I thought possible.

Doesn't upset me: I defend everyone's right to an opinion; unless they're a Rag. I don't want City supporters to behave like spoilt brats but there's nothing wrong with having concerns about potential signings and there are legitimate concerns, IMO, about RvP.

I've wanted City to sign Martinez for about three years and very much like the idea that he can play midfield or CB but I've not seen much of him at CB and, when I have, he has not been hugely impressive but it's not my job to scout him.

If we sign those three and don't lose anyone that we don't want to, our English rivals won't be happy.

For the record, before last season RVP managed 95 goals in 228 games or 1 in 2.4.

Balotelli has managed 55 goals in 148 which equates to 1 in 2.6 though hes much younger and hasnt had the minutes in those 148 that RvP has.

Dzeko has managed 140 in 299 which is 1 in 2.1. This is more games than RvP and hes 2 year younger. It also includes 40 games in Bosnia where he only managed 5 goals. Without this, his goal record is immense.

FFP does not mean City won't be able to spend tens of millions on transfers each summer but it would preclude them spending at the level we saw in the early days of ADUG each summer.

This is also where the policy of buying younger players comes into play because the club should move to a situation where it is replacing players who have a real value in the transfer market with ones that have a greater long term value. This should mean that the net investment in improving the squad each year is affordable. It does mean that buying players like RvP is vey much the exception but an affordable exception.

Assuming of the strikers we sell just Tevez. Do you think we could give strikers of Aguero, RVP, Dzeko and Balo enough game time? This year Dzeko seem to lose some confidence when rested.
