Chelsea’s academy certainly produces decent right backs, James, Lamptey and Livramento all recent graduates.

Don't forget its 5 substitutes this season so depth of squad will be important

Pep doesn't even use one in some games. So don't really see the relevance.

I am sure Reece or Kyle would be buzzing though to hear, "yeah your gonna be on the bench but because we get 5 subs you might get on".

We need to more than replace them though.

We need an extra 2-3 players to compete in all 4 comps, like we did in 18/19 (20 outfield players vs 17 in 21/22)

Well we can only have 21 plus academy players the least we'll have if we decide not to replace Sterling is 20 plus academy players. So we are only talking about 1 squad place .

We are selling players on the fringes, non-starters.

Raz, Gabby, Ake, Zin, Steffen, Torres, Bazunu, Fern, Gyani, Egan-Riley, Edozie, Porro.

That's almost £285m right there. All not guaranteed starters or fringe squad.

Haaland, Alvarez and Phillips in so far @ £110m.

Cucurella and more to follow.

See the other thread on stats and numbers, he is a creative player that for some reason is classed as a left back despite the fact he doesn't play like conventional ones and is really poor at defending

I'm well aware of his numbers but he just isn't a defender, as others have said is a better midfielder

Ake and Raheem would be £110m.

They didn't really want to pay that, so we have proposed a solution.

It would mean James and £40m coming to us.

I think we are very short at right-back and it would be a phenomenal deal?
