Lol the absolute disrespect Sterling gets on here from some is incredible. I literally just said Pep isn’t going to stop playing someone because they haven’t signed a contract and you come out with all that.
Also, there are things sterling is miles better at than mahrez and visa versa. To say it’s delusion to think sterling is better is patronising quite frankly.

Judging from past seasons in including this and the fact he wants Sterling to stay and extend I expect Sterling would get plenty of game time so you’ll probably have to lump it .

Who wants sterling to stay? More reports of him leaving the past few years, and intensified a lot this year. On top of my head, 93.20blue said pep has lost faith in the guy and is getting shipped.

Surely it’s better for him and his development than another season in the eds and odd bench appearances. I agree we need to see a loan work and a player come back and play but thats partly down to the player proving himself as well as picking the right club, hopefully Mcatee can be the one to show that path working.
Because really for most academy players that will be the best path, few are going to make it without a loan the step ups too big Foden and maybe Palmer being the exceptions.

For sure, but once we start loaning players out, they don’t tend to come back.

He could be playing first team football with a 3 years deal at another club, which would mean he’d get more minutes.

Apparently they are going to talk to him after the season when he will decide or not to sign the contract being offered to him. I think he’ll look at his options and sign an extension.Maybe he won’t and we sell him, I hope he does.

Picking the right club is the key really isn't it? I do agree that for most academy players this will be the best path but as @hero_blue said above, not many return. Will be a shame if that happens here, I rate McAtee highly.

Yes, although most that haven’t returned have decent careers none off the top of my head have really shown we were wrong to let them go.
I think though more of the current EDS and younger groups too seem to be of a higher quality than years gone, Mcatee included apparently Doyle is looking good at Sunderland too.
The other problem is there are so many Doyle , Harwood Bellis, Mbette just to name 3 centre backs, I can’t see us keeping all 3.

I think he needs a restart himself, english press always antagonized him when he played talking about him and his family, so personally i would like to see him go and try some new things, that being said foreign press isn’t that much better but a change of scenery can help him rejuvenate his past past form

Heard nothing else besides what Tolmie said mate but it just makes sense if Jesus still wants out? He would do well at A Madrid and I personally think Sterling will leave on a free next season but one in and one out still works? Sterling would be a cup player only next season imo if he doesn’t sign a new contract
