The squad is worse, thinner and with less options than last year for the bench and rotation. We ALL want Kovacic to do well, but to even call him a Gundogan replacement is laughable. Gundogan 10 years ago was a better player than Kovacic has ever been, let alone working with Pep. There’s a reason that when Kovacic was talked about as signing no one even dared call him a Gundogan replacement, because it sounded ludicrous. And at his age he isn’t getting much better. Arguably the case - but last year was still an outlier even for City.We have probably have the best medical club team in the world so that's one of reason of why we can minimalize the impact of the injury even if we have small squads.
Injury will always happen but because our world class medical staff and facilities we don't need to relly bigger squad which means more money to pay and wages for the player in question.
You have to look at Juventus horrible injury track record to makes us feel fortunate that we have consistently have better treatment for our injury player so it will not impact too much in our campaign season.
