It's quiet... summer 2018.

Not really.

Laporte is behind Kimpembe and Pavard, probably Rami as well. No chance he goes having never played for the senior side before.

Fred might get a spot but he won't make the matchday squads.
Pavard plays as RB for France, he's basically an alternative to Sidibe. Not a competitor to Laporte.

He's a centre back though, he'll get used as a CB before Laporte gets called up, especially as Jallet should be back to be 2nd choice RB for the world cup squad.

Deschamps doesn't like Laporte, he's done everything to avoid picking him for about 5 years now, he won't be at Russia.

I understand that but I think we could buy and loan back to Ajax and still have him club trained??

Tbh don’t see him going and I would be surprised if any club paid the £50m for him. I know he’s a great talent and all but these fees are getting out of hand.

Nope he has to be registered to play for either a club in England (association trained) or us (club trained) for a full 3 years prior to the season start after his 21st birthday to be classed as homegrown one way or another. So basically he would have to play here for the next 3 years or play for another club in the premier league.

Given that he has begun pushing for a move away from Ajax I don't think he has any interest at all in staying another year anyway, so we can almost certainly rule out the championship as well. If we're moving for him now I think that makes perfect sense because Vinny will be totally gone this time next year and in all likelihood will miss X amount of the season through injury even if he has a great last year.

Pep has shown with Sane last year and Bernardo this year that he is very adept at signing players and bringing them in slowly, and I think that is probably the plan with De Ligt. I still think he would be mad to come here and fight two of the other most promising cbs in the world for a starting spot just to work under a coach who currently only has 12 months left on his deal, but that is up to him, and with any luck the boss he has given him a bell and said he plans on staying longer.

Is there any particular reason why Deschamps doesn’t like/rate Laporte?

Who could be the fourth one? Bertrand?

Pep said he needs to discuss future transfers with the Club before signing an extension, and the rumoured number of incoming players have doubled immediately ;)

I don't get it. Peps been saying we'll sign max 2 players (albeit also hinted the number does depend on outgoings as well.)

How did it suddenly rise to 4 now?

Maybe 2 for now 2 longer term that maybe go on loan for a year . Someone like De Ligt would fit the bill for the latter as would a younger striker to come back when Aguero goes.
