Im not saying hes still coming, but dont you think he is using that as a bit of an excuse. surely he would have discussed and known about his families feelings way before handing in a transfer request? The whole saga seems a little odd and I can see why some think its part of a bigger strategy. if he doesnt sign a new contract so Barca at lesst get something next summer that could be telling. He won’t be coming. Going on a bit his kids changing schools and crying and all that. Not a chance he comes here.
Let’s move on.
Correct, of course, but Bartomeu and the Barca board won’t be feeling like the losers in all of this. There’s an understanding with these clauses when the contract is signed that the player will either walk away for nothing or sign again at the end of the contract. Bartomeu has got the best of both worlds. He’s taken advantage of the situation to get Messi (albeit an unhappy Messi) for another year, without having to commit to another contract. Alternatively, if he does a deal with us, he gets a transfer fee he otherwise wouldn’t have got.
Scumbag yes, but not the crazy fool he’s being painted as by some.
Him saying he wants out and not happy with the Barca infrastructure, for me is a door opening to exploit in seeing whether the Barca board are open to a bid.Whilst I'm with you I am concerned he'll hide under a blanket again and while City have come out of this so far as good guys/not seeming needy if we start offering money now and it goes tits up again we'll look like we were desperate & smalltime.
I suspect those last few words will cause some grumbles on here but that's how I see it.
I've thought that all along, but it's not good for him (family happiness aside), it's made him look pretty stupid imho, and it's even worse for his beloved club (not that I give a f**k). They've no real money to spend, they need a huge rebuild, and they've now got a failed everton manager in charge to boot.I've no issue with paying a fee but I'm of the opinion this is now over.
Bartomeo will go, Messi will dictate who gets what jobs and he will see his career out at a club he loves, is adored at and in a City he and his family love.
Happy to be proven wrong.
he didnt bad mouth koemanKoeman may not want him
He will train but his attitude could stink up the place. A bad training session here or there and koeman might say to the board to sell him
If i remember right in the video he slso hinted thar he wasnt happy with the managerial appointment......that wont have gone unnoticed either
Yep that's a big concern with Peps contact almost up.....getting the boys back to strive for previous greatness.yup, it shouldn’t just be Pep we are worried about either, he will go after his old pals!
Hardly a ringing endorsement either. The paperingvover holes comment could be seen to be aimed at player and managerial recruitment as wellhe didnt bad mouth koeman
There is a new coach and new ideas. That's good, but then we have to see how the team responds and whether or not it will make us compete at the top level

Maybe Pep met Messi to tell him that the three amigos were rocking up at the Camp Nou next August!!So in the space of one day we've gone from Messi coming to City, to Messi staying and Pep, Txiki and Soriano going to Barca!
that wasn’t the assertion now was it? To suggest he’s there to make up the numbers is disingenuous at best, which is what you’ll alluded too!
He will certainly have no say on Messi which is what the mail article was alluding too. Also its very unlikely hes there after next season.that wasn’t the assertion now was it? To suggest he’s there to make up the numbers is disingenuous at best, which is what you’ll alluded too!
i don’t think he bottled it but I do think Barça have some very shady info on him and his dad was threatened over it.
I just dont see Barça accepting anything from City that is less than crazy money now. They have a point to prove and hate us already.
I think as much as we hoped and prayed that we need to see the bigger picture here, clearly he’s not happy and does want to come but he knows they have a hold on him and as such I just can’t see him ever leaving now. I hope I’m proved wrong of course but I just can’t see it.
Don't think many Barca fans read the Mail to be honest. Sport and Mundo Deportivo have pretty quickly glossed over Messi's criticisms of the club.Well there is that as well. Even if he Does truly now want to stay, the media will make it hard for him for sure.
Pep might end up back there, it wouldn't surprise me if he went back there in a director of football type role, but I can't see Txiki or Feran going back, I think they are too big into City and CFG.Maybe Pep met Messi to tell him that the three amigos were rocking up at the Camp Nou next August!!
Ronald Koeman is following the carefully crafted and trodden path of Trevor Francis. Absolutely fantastic player, with the odd nugget of success as a manager. Overall though a very poor career in comparison to what they achieved on the field. In the end as football fans we all scratch our heads every 8-16 months or so wondering how they got yet another management role after a poor stint and sacking.not necessarily aiming this at you but do people realise koemans standing at Barca??? To allude he is some kind of puppet is ridiculous!!
