Jack Grealish

I don't think people are managing to grasp that great ball retention and hanging onto the ball too long are two different things altogether.
Not saying I agree that any player is guilty of one or the other btw, just that they don't mean the same thing.
The ability to release the ball at the perfect moment is a gift, few players have it.

Yes, mate, you're entitled to believe you're good...and we're entitled to believe we can challenge for top 4 in the near future, and express that belief. I personally don't get into the 'we're massive' dick-swinging' debates, so don't aim that at me, ta! :-) Don't get why you'd be snippy about it. Humble doesn't come into your comment. Football fans, we're all dreamers, aren't we?

I think my reaction was more an accumulative response to a lot of nonsense, imo, that I've read on this thread about Jack, and Villa. United fans on RC were actually a lot more level-headed and 'humble', on the whole, about Jack when he was 'nailed on' to go there last summer, tbh. Guess it's all about expectations.

Reading your thoughts on him and our project, (hate that phrase, tbh :-)) maybe we're both sounding off at the wrong person. :-)

...and, yes, he'd look fantastic in your team. But this summer is not the time, imo, given where Villa are atm and who Jack is as a person.
Personally I think as football fans we aren't great when it comes to players and clubs, because we have a vested interest in our clubs we often negate to keep in mind that each of our players only have one career we are too quick to vilify or judge players, that's not to say that the players themselves don't, at times make poor career choices. The one that always comes to mind for me is Daniel Sturridge, someone who made some really poor moves and ended up in Turkey before he was 30, but(and you will like this!)when you hear how he son of former footballer who's career was destroyed by injury while playing in the Birmingham City youth system you can perhaps understand why he did some of the things he did(not that that helped his career in the long run!).

The one point I would make about this current ownership group is that in recent years they have missed pretty much all their prime transfer tagets each window. Will Jack Grealish sign for City, don't really know, will City use that money well, the balance of evidence says that they will.

In terms of Grealish himself my take is if he wants to come, City would like him, if he doesn't then good luck with his new deal at Villa. As for a Villa top 4 spot, after watching City come from the third tier to the top 9 and then the top 5 I believe that its easier to get from League One to 9th in the Prem League than it is to go from 9th to top 4, given the money the Champions League teams get it is extraordinarily hard, I guess the one major advantage is its no longer the same 4 clubs every year.

Beating a man is most important skill and hardest in football, hence the money these players go for.

The figures Sancho has put up for Dortmund for his age are very impressive. I wouldn’t read too much in to what people say here on that, I think most people can see he’s a very good signing and a pretty fair price.

The price for Grealish is higher because Villa do not want to sell. No doubt we could probably get a deal similar to United if he agrees to stay another season, if they then agree to sell the next.

However, City want him this season and for good reason. The guy is class and everyone should be able to see that.

It’s as obvious as Van Dijk was despite moving at a later age. Grealish is the same and if he moved to us, I think Kevin, Dias and Grealish will be 3 of our most important players.

As to the Foden comparison, Foden is pure class as well and I believe will become a City great. However, I would say as of now Grealish is the better of the 2 (although fairly close). I just expect the move and team will help Grealish move up an extra level.

Only my opinion, but would definitely be the signing I think would be most exciting.

Beating a man is nowhere near the most important skill in the game.

Why do you assume Grealish's price will drop if he stays another season with us? I think it's more likely he would cost 25% more next summer if he continues to be one of the most productive attackers in the league. It seems to me that you have a choice of signing Kane or Grealish this summer - signing both would likely be £200 million just in transfer fees. I think our owners would start listening to offers starting at £100 million, anything under would be dismissed out of hand.

Prob why Grealish is second on chances created because he knows when to release it
Well that or villa play most of their attacking game through him which improves his numbers.
City don't tend to rely on one player hence why our stats are shared out fairly evenly throughout the front 6.
Kev being the outlier because, well because he's the best player on the pitch most of the time.

He already is one of the most productive attackers in the league, I can't see him improving on his figures for you this coming season. However, unless he does sign a new contract, then he'll be 1 year closer to the end of the current one. Hence the fee would be lower, it's how it works.
