What about a report from your apparent favourite journalist John Percy who is top tier for villa news?

Lifelong United fan, not villa. Let's face it, he won't have a second thought about villa of they try and stop him going to city.

Same grealish who played Gaelic football all his life, played for Ireland throughout his underage, refused to play at senior level and switched allegiance to england? I don't begrudge him switching to England if that's what he wanted to do, it's his life and he could have a medal on Sunday because of it, and bloody good luck to him! However, it proves my point.

You're mental if you think him being from Solihull will any button of difference to him if villa block his move. If they block him, the toys will 100% be thrown out
So a lifelong rag?

That means the 'villa' fan prattling on & on either knows absolutely fuck all or is an impostor.

Edit* having now caught up in the thread it seems Grealish is actually a Villa fan.

Shame on you @Eoiyflem ;)

You're here because you're worried and you should be. If there's a release clause he will be gone because I just cannot see a top club not bidding for him in that circumstance, nor him turning down the chance to exercise it. The question is though are the press reports accurate. It's the type of thing they might know because agents talk to the press deliberately to engineer better contracts.

So why are Villa so desperate to get him to sign another new contract just 10 months down the line? (I'm presuming that's true)

Rather sounds like there's a condition in there that Villa want to remove.

Yep!! There is without doubt a clause there and i imagine city have offered if and villa have had to at least engage with grealish about wether he wants out? If its gone this far with it pretty much common knowledge now we want him then we can only assume that grealish said yes to city and the deal will get done asap.

Same thought... but could it also be that they realise after last season about how important he is and giving him even better wages and a new deal? would be significant for their project if their star player stays after all

My only surprise with that is why hasn't it been done already then? Release clause payment sounds simple enough to get a transfer agreed and done with, don't really get the Euros factor, Sancho's transfer also happened while he was with the England camp.

It's taken them an extra 10 months to work out he's their star man? Does that really sound likely to you?

Triggering a release clause that allows the player to speak to other clubs is probably the only simple part of any transfer. Perhaps it has been done but all 3 parties are holding to an NDA for various reasons?
