Jack Grealish

No particular axe to grind but to balance up a few comments about his stats:

- He’s the driver in a vastly inferior team to City. His role is to make stuff happen, not to get on the end of moves. Comparison with Sterling, for example, is meaningless because their roles are totally different.

- Bernie’s G & A numbers are underwhelming yet we love him for his rounded contribution.

Just sayin like.
mahrez was also the primary creator for lcfc however that doesn't mean it will translate to a different team, as we have seen in mahrezs case he has been pretty underwhelming since he got here.

Not sure why some of our fans think we aren’t given our fair share of penalties

City have been awarded 20 penalties in the league over the last two seasons, only the Rags (25) have been awarded more

Of course we only scored 11 of those 20 but that doesn’t change the fact that there isn’t some massive conspiracy to deny us penalties
But the point of my reply was that the vast majority of our penalty claims are either ignored by the officials, and, quite often, penalised as dives - Sterling, Aguero, Tevez, etc being classic examples. Were Grealish to join our ranks, we may get more penalties because of his playing style, but just as many claims would be ignored.
Compare and contrast that with other clubs, notably those in red at opposite ends of the East Lancs Road, who only need the opposition to look at them in a funny way, for the referee to point unhesitatingly to the spot.
Paranoia - certainly, but I've (now) got good eyesight, and am fully aware of the LotG, particularly Law 12, something most PiGMOL referees seem to be totally unaware of.

United the most penalties despite playing dour style of football.

City spend the most time of any team in the opposition box, yet we are still 2nd. Of course we should be at least 2nd or otherwise it would look really corrupt.

We should be 1st by a mile when you consider our style of play. Many many times our penalties are turned down and we get the clear ones only (we are bound to get clear ones due to our style).

Villa apparently telling prospective players that Grealish is staying. But City's interest in him is firming up. . . (via The Athletic apparently)
If he doesn't come to City for what ever reason, the headlines are already written for partly drafted articles:
Grealish snubs City.
Similar stuff already written for players City do or do not have an interest in together with huge transfer fees and wages.

IMO there are few similarities between the two in style, character or technique.

I chose the description “driver” carefully wrt Grealish. Mahrez may have created, and he’s arguably the more skilful of the two. But does he ever drive a team when the shit and bullets are flying?

It took some time for Mahrez to adapt and really contribute. Not sure that can be extrapolated to a very different player.

Teams that play on the break and have players breaking at pace against panicked, stretched defences probably generate a lot of fouls in the penalty area than teams who dominate possession and face packed, organised defences don't, right? Our build-up in and around the opposition area can be quite slow and ponderous at times

Don't get too excited re the penalties not given... we miss them anyway : )

Apart from the last 12 months where he’s been one of our best players..
As Ive said, since hes been here for the past 3 years, overall he has been pretty underwhelming even though he has delivered somewhat this season.

You said he’s been underwhelming since he got here. He wasn’t underwhelming last season. Pretty straight forward really.
