ok he's no Barry but he did a good job today. whilst nige is at the club i'd be using him though.

ok ill bite.

"hes no barry" ????

completely different type of player, so yeah hes certainly no barry.

hes no aguero, hes no nasri, hes no clichy .

shall we continue?

I thought he played very well today. He paid highly for the mistake he made. Obviously he has improvements to make but he is still young and judging from today's performance has a very positive future ahead.

i may be in minority but was not impressed with rodwell. think mancini put him in there because of the expected weak saints opposition but what an effort by the saints. thank goodness we won

he seems to me to be significantly below a de jong or barry or milner.

really hope he does not play much this year and gets better with reserves and in training and then maybe plays more next year.
One game and he's already below a de jong or barry or milner?
give the lad a chance ffs

I thought he had a solid debut....The goal wasn't entirely his fault, we had a chance to clear

There was time when he wanted to get forward but checked his runs, as obviously wanted to stick to his instructions of link defence and midfield...which you could see he was told to do in the inside city vid the other day

Making the odd mistake can make you a better player long term. Suppose that goes for all walks of life.

The mistake reminds me of the mistake Clichy had with Kompany last season in the community shield.

You need to remember he's been there for less than a week and most of that time he was with England. If he'd been there for longer perhaps the ball would have gone through to Zabaleta, it was a break down in communications, thats all.

He had a good game till then, perhaps he could close down a bit sooner, instead of backing off quite a bit but that will come when he plays more and gets used to our system.

The mistake wasn't giving the ball away. Everyone does that countless times. Plus it was 100yards from goal.

The mistake was backing off and not closing the ball down, allowing the Souths player to run 60yards with it, creating a goal scoring opportunity.

Everyone makes mistakes though. Vincent made some today too.
