James Milner - Why Buy Him?

PaleBlue said:
Milner when he played through the middle for Villa was (for one season) outstanding. We paid a shed load of money for him (being English etc) and I was looking forward to him continuing that at City. He's been nailed on for England ever since but can't even make the bench today. He's the most versatile player we have, can spring defence into attack, can smash one in and move out wide and deliver a great cross. He's able to tackle and cover either full back - why is Rodwell and Garcia getting in ahead of him. He's too good to be left on the sidelines and I'd be gutted if he left as I think he'd be integral in a team like Liverpool or even the rags.

Probably because he's injured http://sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/unknown-toe-injury-keeps-milner-out-19871/?

He's fecking injured, so yeah, you might wanna do some research before you go blasting the management.

I spoke to Milner briefly this morning on Stockport Train Station and he was off to see a specialist in London.

He said he has had the injury for 18 months and is not stopping him from playing

I told him we could have done with him yesterday and at Madrid and he said very firmly that he was available. Seemed quite pissed off he isnt being played.

Typical English midfielder full of endeavour and commitment. Technically shit, his brain doesn't work quick enough to play the football Mancini craves, he needs two touches when he receives the ball Silva Nasri Yaya don't. If you watch when he is playing Yaya rarely gives him the ball.

Good player for the likes of Villa not good enough for us now

we have not seen the "villa" james milner maybe this on going injury has been the problem.cant believe some people think he is the answer to all our woes not knocking the lad .just saying he is not a key player

Good professional ,great engine, but has not got the skill or technique that Mancini desires in this area of the pitch.
Should however be used in away matches to track back and cover the full backs. Also should be used out wide and not central midfield.

With him at Madrid, we could've gotten a draw. With him at Madrid we could've avoided getting Nasri that injury, which then Nasri could've played against Arsenal and took over from Silva(who was awful that day).
