Javi Garcia

Garcia is wank and will never be good enough to be first choice for us in the Prem.

He's had a couple of average games for us, the rest utter shite.

Thank fuck Mancini and Del Bosque don't share your opinion

Marvin, your one man crusade to 'prove' Garcia isnt just very average is admirable, however,in that Everton game, and in the others he has participated,he has done nothing even close to exceptional.

I saw the game so i dont need stats to tell me Evertons midfield bossed us totally.

He is a journey man midfielder, who we didnt really need, especially so,given the fee involved.

Everton's midfield bossed us because the players in front of Garcia don't play intelligently defensively. All season - Yaya doesn't make the effort to defend, Silva's wing is usually an open door to attack us through. One of the full backs is usually completely out of position.

The biggest problem in this team is the speed of reaction between the midfielders in either offense or defence. People suggest this would be fixed with wingers but I think we'd be better off playing a proper box to box powerhouse next to the tactically excellent garcia - just look how well him and Rodwell did together. I don't think it's an accident Mancini bought these players.

As for sideways passes - have you seen how many sideways passes barca play? Does it make Busquets useless?

Garcia's performance against Everrton

56 passes at a 90% completion rate, the best in this game for all players. He was also the most accurate passer in the final third. He successfully made 24 of 25 passes in the final third.

Hugely impressive. And that's why he's in the Spanish squad
Lescott probably has a higher pass completion rate, his passing seems similar to Garcia. A 5 yard pass sideways, usually to the player that has just passed it to him. I like Joleon and I want to like Garcia but both players seem to hide in games and not really want the ball. Lescott is faster!
There are lies, damn lies and statistics!

Lescott and Garcia are not in the team to make defence-splitting 30-40 metre passes. They are in the team to stop the opposition scoring. And they do a bloody good job of it.

People on his thread keep banging on about what a great player de Jong was, and I loved Nigel too, but the vast majority of his passes were short ones to Barry, YaYa or the centre-backs.

Javi makes similar range passes for the most part, but I have seen him successfully make some cracking longer ones, which is something we rarely saw NdJ do.

It's all about opinions.
I thought Nigel was a much better player than Garcia, more composure, better passer, stonger tackler and significantly faster. Garcia seems a better header of the ball.
Garcia frequently chooses to haul down a player who is passing him for pace. I dont want to unfairly criticise any City player hopefully he can improve but at the moment IMO he is below the standard we need.
Maybe we will just have to agree to disagree?

Sounds like a good idea.

Spot on.

I read some interview with DDR few months ago and he said "I'm not very quick so I need Tachtsidis to run". And this is the problem here - none of our CM is fast or mobile enough and it could be even more complicated if we'll use 4-3-3 next season. We just need somebody like Vidal or Marchisio.
