Javi Garcia

He's exactly like Barry, he's great in 3 man midfield (when played instead of and not alongside Barry), looks poor in a 4-4-2 due to be shockingly exposed.

You could see numerous times today that he was left isolated in midfield as everyone else was out of position. It has nothing to do with his skill/pace it has everything to do with tactis and personel alongside him.

Barry has been ridiculed and underated ever since the game v Germany. What is overlooked is the lack of protection he got from his fellow midfielders, in particular Lampard. You don't need pace to be an excellent DM you need the right formation.

If we're to be playing a 433/4231 with Yaya the furthest forward of a 3 man midfield then Garcia has to stay as this is where he excels.

But as has been pointed out, as I'm defending him I clearly know nothing about football.
Indeed, and like barry and yaya when their team mates don't stick to the system they look like fish out of water, it makes Barry n Garcia look slow and Yaya look out of position.
I'm sure after a pre-season with us he'll be fitter next year

I think you're right - and that he was bought with the idea that he replaces Barry in that role, which I think he would be ideal for.

His job is to sit in front of the back 4 play those hundreds of short 5/10 yard passes needed to keep the ball moving.

The latest whipping boy to be destroyed by fans not willing to give new players a chance to settle in a new country, league, system of play, management style etc.

His biggest problem is his lack of mobility. A few times last night he got caught square on and flat footed

Thought he was good tonight, won his tackles and kept the ball. He's not even been here a season and had a couple of injuries early on. If he hasn't adapted by the end of next season then it's maybe time to look at moving him on.

Give him a chance! Del Bosque obviously thinks he can play a bit and if he's close to playing for one of the strongest midfield's in the world then I think he's worth having a bit more patience with.

He is one of these class players who just cannot get to grips with the premier league game. Maybe in a few seasons he would be decent but after the money we spent on him, why should we wait? If he can't adjust and deliver, then move him on.
