I guess they'd be comfortable with Van Dijk, Konaté, Gomez, and Quansah? Maybe I am missing someone else?they even got enough decent CBs to roll with playing 3

Madrid in for him too, Alonso a fan
Based on midfield rumors, doesn't sound like Foden has a chance at 8/10 - he's going to have to be inside RW like most of last year. In which HE WON POTS! I can't believe how many people are bailing on him after this season in which everyone has been terrible. And he is homegrown. The downside is zero in my opinion
Liverpool have played without a proper right back for years.while frimpong is a quality player, liverpool are going to have to revert to a 3 at the back to accommodate him because in konate has to come out to the right to cover for him then that defence will be left will be left very exposed.
No,an attacking full back makes s sense Frimpong is just the attacking part. If we want an ex academy full back and we might not Porro makes more sense.Based on midfield rumors, doesn't sound like Foden has a chance at 8/10 - he's going to have to be inside RW like most of last year. Foden works best at RW if the RB/RWB is providing width, so long way around to saying, Frimpong makes a lot if sense to me.
Fair enough. I just like the homegrowness of it all :)Unless we go to a back 5, he is too incredibly unsuited imo, Nunes clears him easily.

While some may say with our high possession our players don't need to defend as much, Nunes still atleast has to do SOME defending, while Frimpong barely does anything.
Then look at the passing stats, attempted, completed % and progressive passes.
Frimpong has basically no responsibility in the build up, his only passing is done in the final 3rd hence why his % is so low and why he has no progressive passes.
Nunes meanwhile obviously shows high usefulness as a buildup fullback, with many attempted, high %, and lots of progressive passes.
Meanwhile creatively, Nunes still beats Frimpong, 0.28xAG vs 0.19 xAG (keep in mind Nunes did play a bit as a winger so this is skewed a bit for him, but it also skews against him defensively as well so it still favours him), while SCA is about the same. Frimpong even takes more shots than Nunes!
So yeah, Frimpomg is not a fullback in any sense of the word, he is a winger who gets on the end of things.
We really need a fullback more akin to Nunes tbh.
I think Foden has had a poor enough season that competition is warranted. Yes i have him as the starting inside left. Because he is still a prolific scorer. Even in a down year, he is far better than all the other potential wide forwards other than Marmoush.Based on midfield rumors, doesn't sound like Foden has a chance at 8/10 - he's going to have to be inside RW like most of last year. We absolutely need a proper first choice right back. Frimpong isn’t that but as a replacement back up rb for nunes there’s a lot of potential upside.Unless we go to a back 5, he is too incredibly unsuited imo, Nunes clears him easily.

The stats aren't misleading, as Nunes defensive stats aren't even that impressive, which highlights how poor Frimpong is. Offensively, Nunes has been good for us, it describes the reality. We absolutely need a proper first choice right back. Firstly, is that it would free up a homegrown spot. Which if the difference between being able to sign both wirtz and reinjders or not would be a no brainer.
It also gives us the option of a traditional right winger and the possibility of playing a back 3/5. Which I think could suit a fair amount of our players. Ake/gvardiol/akanji/khusanov all capable of being the wide centre backs and would allow foden/marmoush to play more centrally without losing our width.
Far from disaster if we don’t go for him, which we’re clearly not, as nunes has definitely improved and fine as a back up but one we could look back on as a shrewd bit of business.
Also, those charts show how misleading stats can be without the right context. You’d think Nunes was the second coming of Lahm until you watched him for 20 mins haha
Naby Keita was a disaster. Endo decidedly mediocre. And Gakpo, Diaz while serviceable have hardly set the world alight. They have been completely carried this season by Salah and Van Dijk. Take those 2 out and they would struggle to make Champions League IMO.Not cheap, but both are worth every penny and more. Nunes is the one that sticks out, but there aren't many of them.
Those stats suggest that Nunes is one of the best passing/creative fullbacks in the world. It's fine if Pep wants to play a back 3/5 system by default, we become a back 3 often, but always start as a back 4, hence why I have seen no evidence for Pep to try this system.
He is up there as it shows. Those stats suggest that Nunes is one of the best passing/creative fullbacks in the world. Not an opinion I subscribe to personally
Crazy take but McAtee as a fullback? He is up there as it shows.
There arent many right bacj I could name I think have better chance creation than him.
The benefits of converting attacking players into fullbacks.
Alot more that are better defensively though.
Too slow unfortunately.Crazy take but McAtee as a fullback?
release clauseWhy so cheap ?
Cheaper than Khusanov even though he won the league last season playing in better league
They’ve made as many mistakes as we have. They’ve been dining out on the success of Salah and VVD for far too long, sooner or later they’ll fallIs only 24 years old, he can improve.
5 goals and 12 assists this season from wing-back position is great, and he had an excellent season prior.
Doesn't cost much.
Liverpool keep getting quality players on the cheap.
