JO - Everton on Loan

Exactly. So if we cant agree a deal he will just put in a transfer reqest like I said. No one wants that not city or Everton or the player. We will just pay through the teeth for him in the end. Probably £18 - £20 million + jo on loan with option to buy at a knock down price.
Corluka was better than Lescott, we shouldn't have sold him to Spuds.

I thought so at the time. But he was awful at Spuds last season and looked terrible when I saw him play for Croatia. He was resposinble for most of the goals England scored against them.

I think Hughes did a good bit of business there. No better than what we have probably worse based on last season.

Big difference is that Trannie was injured if not he probably would have gone last summer.

Plus Rags vs Everton. One of the biggest clubs in europe vs feeder club. You could threaten to Bench him in world cup year but given their tiny squad and the injuries they already have in that position - cant see that happening.

At the end of the day if they are playing hard ball the player will just put a transfer request in....

You said it yourself "tiny squad" until they can replace him, it would be stupid to sell. Lescot can request a transfer till the cows come home, eventually they will have to sell, but they certainly don't need to this transfer window. Unless Moyes already has new players lined up and needs the cash from the sale of Lescot.
Bottom line is, for this window at least, Everton are in the driving seat.

he handed in a transfer request so he could team up with his best mate Modric, we agree once we got a replacement ...Zabba

and we want a left footed CB that can cover LB if needed ..... Corluka was neither of these things

When players want to go - they go. I cant really think of a case where a top decent player has been made to stay after he put in a transfer request. But I am sure someone will come up with an example. Obviously they wont sell until they have a replacement lined up - but this already seems to be the case with Naughton from Shef Utd.

They are in driving seat - in terms of price. We are going to get nailed on the fee.

If the player really wants to go though its always better to do the deal rather than keep an unhappy unsettled player.

As was proven with RSC. They kept him for another few months but he hardly kicked a ball for them and they got £5 million less than we offered in Janaury !

Personally I think it will happen. I think out of Lescott, Tevez and Eto Lescott is certainly the one thats most likely to come off although I am sure we will end up with Tevez as well.

He was alright going forward but would run back as if he'd just shit himself and knew it was a runny one leaving the back four in just as much shit as he thought was in his crack!

I believe I used the phrase "this transfer window" and mentioning RSC just proves my point.
We wanted him in January but Blackburn didn't want to sell until the summer.
Guess who won ?

Thinking of a few of the deals we did in January. Given - Newcastle desperate to keep him till the end of the season. He could have easily kept them up it was so close.

We got him after he made it clear he wanted to leave. Newcastle go down. Doesnt get much worse then that !

Bellamy at West Ham. They were pushing for Europe. Desperate to keep him. Offered a new improved contract. Made it clear he wanted to move. We got him. No Europe for West Ham by a few points.

Jan is a much worse time for clubs to let players go obviously yet we still got the best players from the clubs concerned.

Contracts are worth shit in football these days we all know it. I did say its possible they could drag it out until Jan and hope Jags is fit. But lets face it they would be even more fucked then. They wont be able to get a replacement and Jags cruciate is fucked. 12 months out minmum with that injury hes not playing any real part next season.

Then you are into world cup. Massively high risk for the player - full season and he has fucked knees anyway plus a full worldcup.

I cant see how any player would take such a risk when there is so much money at stake. Hes 26 the deal we are offering would set him up for life.

I would be amazed if we dont sign him this window but you never can tell....

????????????

I wasn't trying to compare Corluka with Lescott

In answer to the "we should have kept Corluka" I gave the reason he left and was saying that the two player play different positions and are totally different players

What a strange reason to request a transfer. Maybe if we get Eto, we can get Henri then because by all accounts, they have become best buds.
