John Bond 1932-2012

A gentleman who showed a glimpse me what City could have achieved, unfortunatley Swales thought otherwise. thanks for the memories, RIP John Bond

John Bond was the manager who was there for my first game: CITY 1 (Power)Norwich 0. Malcolm Allison and Peter Swales had ruined Manchester City with their idiotic destruction of a good team. John Bond turned the team that Malcolm Allison's relegation strugglers into a good side buying Bobby Mac, Hutch and Gerry Gow in 80/81. Wembley 81, and that season, not to mention half of the next season with Trevor Francis in the team, made it a happy time.W e were top just after Christmas and beat the mighty Liverpool at Anfield. He should never have been forced out of City. He went to his grave saying he was blackmailed by a City Director about his private life. Bondy was also frustrated by the thoroughly incompetent Peter Swales selling our best player Trevor Francis.

Thanks for bringing cheer to my lousy life at that time (terrible time at school and parents divorcing).

Johnny, Bond, Johnny Bond, Johnny Bond.

Thanks for the memories.

Rest in Peace

He was a good manager and a nice guy....but why did we sing that awful song...john bond we love you john bond we do, makes me cringe just thinking about it.
RIP Bondy

And I know who the City director was, and what he was being blackmailed about!

But today's not the day...

I just wonder, though, what the Burnley messageboard will be like today! Might go and have a look...

I sang it and i am now

Another dear old City man departs but his memory will linger.

At least he leaves having made a mark on our lives. I will remember him for that Wembley run and for that ridiculous jump into the tunnel from the Main Stand

Yes Soulboy, for another day. Sad day. No he wasn't overly loved in the wilds of Burnley. Maybe he wouldn't "give em six".

I still have vivid memories of him jumping from the Directors box. For those too young to remember, we had just beaten Norwich 6 0, his son Kevin was playing full back for Norwich and had a stinker. John Bond had jumped down to try and console, maybe comfort his son, I think that says a lot about the guy.

RIP Big Fella, thanks for the memories.
