John Guidetti

Telegraph...........

Lambert, the Aston Villa manager, will enter the January chase to sign the Sweden international for the rest of the season, with old mentor Martin O’Neill likely to prove one of his main competitors.’

Lambert had Guidetti scouted extensively during his loan spell at Feyenoord last season, where the youngster scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for the Dutch club.

And he will attempt to persuade Mancini that moving to Villa for four months will help Guidetti’s progression as he bids to become a regular at Manchester City, though Sunderland and Galatasaray are also interested.’

The Villa move would be perfect.

They have a young, hard working, progressing team with a manager who knows his stuff.John would hopefully get good game time and could learn plenty there.

Also an opportunity for us to put first dabs on Benteke....!

I think a loan move to a bottom half premier league side like Villa would be ideal as Lambert is promoting youth within the club. He's got confidence in abundance and you can tell he's keen to prove a point. Also might give Mario the wake-up call he so desperately needs...however that's highly unlikely he's not done anything to suggest he can put a shift in. Too stubborn thinking 'I can put half-arsed performances and I'm still the best in the world' deluded mentality. It could be a winner for all parties concerned. Overall though I'd prefer to give John a run in the team as he's got the right attitude.

I remember watching him on that states tour a year or two back. Couldnt hit a baen door on that day but there was one massive thing in his favour he really cared about the shirt. Was gutted he kept missing. Whether he get a chance or not, and whether he is good or not, we cant buy that desire

This made me chuckle..

Totally agree. To compare him favourably to regular international players like Dzeko and Balo is wrong in my opinion.
I have seen Guidetti quite a lot (EDS matches) and never once thought he was certainty to 'make it,' with us.
His main asset is his confidence and that should not be an underestimated value.
He thinks he's a star, and has a belief that he will score in every game.
However I got the impression him scoring was more important than the result. Not saying this as fact just the impression I got.

Well, overall I agree with you.

About scoring more important than the result. He has said, like many other youth players that most often that is what the coaches only cares about. The dont care if you play well or put in a good performance, if you dont score, they arent interested....

In Sweden it´s mostly about the team but when Swedish youths sign for England clubs they quickly have to change their mind. Its all about the individual and all of your teammates dont want you to succeed. The competition for the players are mainly within their own youthteam, not between their youthteam and others...

When did he last play a game?

Is he genuinely match fit, or just no longer injured/ill?

Surely he needs a run of games at a lower level before he could even be considered for our first team?

Absolutely. Would be a perfect move for him and like you say first dibs on Benteke could be useful...

why, Dzeko and Balotelli have shown fuck all in there starts especially Dzeko who just doesn't look like he gives a shit. Not saying hes going to rip the prem up but he deserves a chance as the other two aren't showing anything.

probably because anyone who thinks a player without any premiership pedigree is better than our 3rd and 4th best strikers is a bit of a clown.

Yes because Dzeko and Balotelli are ripping the prem up at the moment aren't they. Guidetti scored a hat-trick against the team Dzeko did fuck all against.

Would they play him ahead of Benteke and weimann though? I'd like to see him play 90 minutes a week. Think Southampton, Norwich or Swansea would be ideal for him, hope they come in for him

last year we won the league with dzeko and balotelli as our 3rd and 4th option this year we are 2nd and imo just starting to play better. what makes you think guidetti is up for the job

Haven't we won 1 in 9 matches when Dzeko has started and only won 33% of matches when Balotelli has started. Guidetti could be something special he was treated like a god by Feyenoord fans no one knows how how he will do in the prem but he at least deserves a chance especially at a time when neither Dzeko (didn't look interested vs Newcastle) and Balotelli are hardly pulling up any trees.

manchester city, united, chelsea and arsenal no longer bring players straight into their premiership first 11`s from the reserves. there is a reason for that, its because the standard in the reserves isnt good enough to take a gamble on the player coming off in the prem. ditto the dutch league (yes i know about the ajax result)
guidetti may well be good enough, but we first need to send him out to a team like sunderland or norwich etc and see if he is ready to become 3rd or 4th choice for us.

this isnt a slight on guidetti its just being realistic

Players have various stages and develop sooner (or later) at their own pace but the model for transition is taking shape. In the old days it was youths, B-team then first team. Not simple nowadays. Even with our academy factory that churned out 20 plus players...

1. Capture and develop/nurture
2. Youth academy intern
3. Established academy player
4. EDS/reserve level (U21 league/nextGen)
5. Short loan out to League 1/2 level (stable club)
6. Longer loan out to League 1/2 level (stable club)
7. Loan out to Championship level (stable club)
8. Loan out to Championship/PL club/European top flight club
9. Carling Cup/FA Cup/Europa League standard exposure
10. Premier League exposure.
11. Premier League inclusion in squad.
12. Premier League substitute appearances (compete with experienced/international senior players)
13. Premier League appearances (compete with experienced/international senior players)
14. Established Premier League player.

Then you'll always have many other steps to control the player. Nurture, satisfy, draw desire and passion, support, play to the ego/brain etc. Is every player dedicated and loyal? What motivates the player? What is their ambition? Is there hunger?

I think he deserves at least few minutes on the pitch in next 2 or 3 weeks so I hope we'll see him soon. Balo is not fit, Nasri is injured, Mancini has no confidence in Sinclair...

Well if they don't he may as well pack his bags permanently,he needs the challenge,i think it's the perfect barometer.
