He's having a great season so far & is arguably one of the best defenders in the PL on current form. The scary thing is that he is still young & he's still developing. He could be at the top for years to come.

He has been worthy of the motm in the previous 2 games. He is fast becoming a commanding presence in the back line for our club. There will be the odd slip but as pep states this will only make him learn as it would do to any of the other squad members shoukd they also make a mistake.

Stones is on the right road to becoming a leader

Mostly because Stones and Otamendi didn't let their big men up top get anything. Burnley attack through hold up play, and those two just mugged their striker time after time.

Also, in games like these, Otamendi and Stones become very important to the attack. Burnley pressed high, and our 2 CB's picking passes that bypassed 3 or 4 of their players lead to most of our good attacks.
Great post.

Stones and Ota are so important not only in defence, but also going forward. Last week against Stoke they had more touches (108 and 107) than any other players in the league.

It's not just the touches, but the quality of the incisive passing through the midfield that is setting off our attacks. Both of them are becoming very accurate with their longer passes, and this is an area where Otamendi has really improved this season

It's not quite a case of Vinny who, but we are now no longer holding our collective breath and waiting for Vinny to return.

Love that Stones proving his worth and improving every game. Everton fans laughing last season. They replaced him with Ashley Williams and Michael Keane and look where they sit. United laughing last season. They bought Lindelof. Pool laughing last season. They got Lovren and Klavan. Keep laughing.
