John Stones - 2017/18 performances

Ok so he fluffed one clearance but that is only being highlighted because it led indirectly to their goal. I thought apart from that he was fine, the second goal exposed Zinchenko lack of aerial presence. Not much Stones could have done about it. They had two chances and scored them both. On the balance of play we could have scored 6-7 goals. I’m more concerned about our inefficiency in front of goal than the defence at the moment.

I don't think he's that great a player, does anyone seriously think, he will go down in history as one of the premier leagues greatest CBs.

He's ok but not brilliant

Did nothing wrong, but it seems he's attracted the boo boys. Pity really, won't be the first class player they've chased out of the club.
That's nonsense. John was excellent prior to his injury; very poor since. Nothing to do with boo boys. It's very worrying that it's the same problems we saw last year. If Vinny was fit, JS wouldn't make the first team at the moment. We should be concerned, and we should be talking about it.

I don't think he played particularly well tonight but neither would I say he made any egregious errors that cost us. The attempted clearance was under pressure to clear it from an attacker and he slightly mishit it , it was an error but a small one although in hte end a goal was scored and I didn't observe anything particularly culpable for the second goal.
He's young and coming back from injury playing in a system where defenders have less protection when they are exposed. He's not been at his best the last few matches but we've seen earlier this season how good he is when he is at his best.

You’re speaking far too much sense for this thread.

He's in our team because he contributes to the buildup. I think Pep knows he's not an outstanding defender.

Will go against the flow and say he was actually very good and kept our game flowing nicely for most of the game. I'm not even sure you can blame him too much for the first goal, too.
^^^ This is what a decent supporter looks like.

What, deluded??!

Savic and Nastasic were exiled for far fewer shady performances and goal-costing errors than Stones has made in the past 4 games, let alone the last 18 months.

The error was due to lack of composure, as many of his errors are. Surely that's the point, and what's so worrying. Tonight's error very reminiscent of the wild swipe v Burnley.
