Thought he had a great game — if it cannot be him and Eric, one of them as to be on the pitch, otherwise our defending level drops considerably.

The improvement he's made within the last 18 months has been astonishing. He's gone from a boy to a leader. Imperious.
+1
This season, especially, he's improved his game tremendously; almost always in position on defense and has largely eliminated the occasional careless give-away which previously was a problem area in his game.

Christ he was good last night.

I remember back in the day when he was coming on here right before his signing(yes we know it was you John lol) and I was slating the move. He'd a crap first season.

But the sacrifice of that first year with him paid off big time. He looks phenomenal now.

Subbed off at half time last night and told by the commentators it was tactical.

Pep doesn't alter things too much at half time especially if we are in control of the game so I knew he would be added to physio.com.

Hopefully available for the important Dec matches coming up , we are really in that realm of losing one a game again now.

It killed us in Peps first year albeit Pep had to experiment a bit before his methods were ingrained in the side so lets hope we get a long run of games where Ferny , Kun , KDB, Danilo, DS and JS are fully fit and available.

I only saw the second half as I was annoyingly caught up after work, but I thought he was quite good.

Obviously not a long term solution, but I thought he showed a few promising signs to show he's worth while for resting dinho now and again. Some good interceptions, won a lot of aerial battles and near enough every kick from their keeper was being won back immediately, some decent passes forward, surging runs. Not perfect, not dinho, but for a centre half he looked decent there.

We need someone there, but for the odd game he will do.

He is brilliantly composed on the ball but he can’t play on the half turn as Fernandinho can. That ability means Fernandinho can start attacks much faster. Stones is a world class centre back and a decent defensive midfielder.

I had pretty much the same observations. Stones can play CDM and be successful at it, if we want someone who simply wins the ball, plays it sideways/backwards and keeps it ticking over. If we want someone like Fern, who, despite being a CDM is progressive, Stones is not likely to be that player.

So not a DM then
