I kind of feel the opposite, letting yourself get sufficiently worked up by a League Two player's six month old tweet, to the point that you can't just laugh it off and shake the guy's hand after the game doesn't strike me as the actions of someone who is all that secure in his own skin. Especially considering he wasn't at fault for the goal at all. Maybe that's unfair, but I don't feel like John comes out of this looking great.Wish John had stood up for himself a bit more...
City invited the Vale players into the home dressing room after the game and Pope admits his meeting with Stones did not go well.
"They all dragged me in, the Man City players, but John wouldn't speak to me," said Pope, whose goal was also his 109th for the club, a post-war record. "It was a little bit awkward. I shook his hand but he wasn't too happy."
Pope certainly felt he had no reason to back down, later tweeting: "I'd just like to say I was completely wrong and bang out of order to say I'd score 40 a season..... it's more like 50."
He’s most definitely not been secure in his own skin for the last 12 months with off the field problems deeply affecting him.I kind of feel the opposite, letting yourself get sufficiently worked up by a League Two player's six month old tweet, to the point that you can't just laugh it off and shake the guy's hand after the game doesn't strike me as the actions of someone who is all that secure in his own skin. He tweeted a few stupid things about john right before the game and since,he won't admit he got the better of a kid and not john, rather than saying john doesn't come of it wel aim at the dickhead insteadI kind of feel the opposite, letting yourself get sufficiently worked up by a League Two player's six month old tweet, to the point that you can't just laugh it off and shake the guy's hand after the game doesn't strike me as the actions of someone who is all that secure in his own skin. Kompany was aggressive on the pitch and gentleman off it. So there are definitely better examples than Keane and Rooney.I don't need to socialise with him, it's obvious. He never jumps into tackles, he just doesn't have that element of aggressiveness and toughness in himself. He's like a graceful giraffe looking good with the ball at his feet or like a Hollywood actor who plays football or like mommy's little boy who goes to a prestigious private school with a white collar. That's how he plays football, like a pedantic lawyer. Nooo, I'm not gonna get those shorts dirty. It's a personality thing.
Look at Rooney, Roy Keane, Bellamy etc. etc. They all were a bit of a cnut in real life (based on media stories) and transferred that onto the pitch. Stuff like aggressiveness and toughness come from your personality, impossible to teach or acquire it at his age.
It’s all “bantz” when it is directed at a City player.I'm sure I saw Stones putting Pope on his arse at one point, and the latter having a moan to the ref about it, mard arse.
Where's the PFA in all this? A fellow pro joining the pile in on social media. A minute to consider mental health eh?
