John Stones

I won't lie, I was gutted about the Laporte news, but have felt Stones would be a worthwhile addition in his own right. Like many, I believe Pep can make him into a very good player and he is obviously young. But genuine question, and sorry if this goes off topic, have we had a link to any other CB that would be an alternative? Or a second besides Stones, considering that's what we originally heard with he and Laporte?

Hopefully the lure of Champions League football and working with Guardiola will give us the edge over United, should he choose to leave Everton. I imagine he'll have talks with Koeman first though.

That's definitely the plan, koeman will sit down with a few players to see what there feelings are, there is a willingness to see the back of Lukaku now though.
The issues with stones are slightly different though, his original intention to leave was about the manager and when he asked to leave and and was refused it only made him more determined to leave. The only question now with a new manager and owner is wether he can be persuaded his future is at Everton.

Do you think Pep can make Denayer into a very good player, who is obviously young too, home grown and won't cost a ridiculous 45 million plus?
As for the papers and their continueing rumors, you do understand it's just to get the clicks going no?

Currently in the Everton shop in L1. No Stones shirts on display at all. Lukaku, Barkley, Dele (can't be arsed spelling his name), all hung up and on sale. He's off, 100%.

When his sister said she hopes he gets his move, she must have been echoing his views. Now the store not printing his name.

Question is, where?

Let's hope City

Ask the bloke behind the counter.

I've always been a fan of us signing either Stones or Laporte this window rather than both, the decision now only has one option so hope we get him.

Imagine he'll be at us or united next season, like to think we're the more desirable choice.

The worse possible thing for me, would be missing on Laporte and then Stones picking the rags. Not only would we be missing on 2 of our biggest ,long term targets but also mean that we'd likely have to go into a new season, with everyone knowing we tried to replace Mangala but we couldnt....personally feel, this deal is even more important now that Laporte is off the table and just hope we dont try and get clever with our bids. Starting point is going be 40mil after this is what was rejected last summer and I think its going to take a Sterling type offer to get this done....

I must have missed something. Who has said we are looking to replace Eli?

It was reported last summer that we tried to loan out Mangala when we signed Ota, but Mangala refused to agree to the move and wanted to fight for his place in the squad....and this summer, we've had Stones and Laporte at the top of our shopping list which would make me think, Mangala could be the first to go if new CB's are added....

Thanks for the clarity. For one moment I thought you were talking facts

An offer of £45m should persuade Everton to sell John Stones to City this summer. [@DeanJonesBR]

You can tell he's nailed on for city as he can't even get in this England side now ahead of Smalling. Woy just won't pick him now even if Smalling manages to give away stupid free kicks on the half way line time after time, and use his massive chest to cushion the ball pathetically back to Joe almost letting the Slovaks in to really embarrass us. Say's it all really, not part of Woys clique and he's coming.
