I think Stones will be a City player before the new season starts.

So do I, but I think there is still plenty of posturing in public to come from both teams. My guess is an undisclosed fee will be announced in the region of 40 mil and it'll actually be more like 49 million.

I actually think Pep is the one telling Txiki don't go more than 40m. I think he's the opposite of Mourinho and don't want players with huge price tags and would rather mold youth and make due with what we have. I see Pep as having a valuation on Stones and if he doesn't come for that price we move on. He'll probably use Sagna and/or Clichy at CB instead.

So far we have signed a squaddish player Nolito, a Brazilian supersta who will not be with us for the forseeable, a columbian ditto, and Gundongan who is class.

Not sure Pep will be too happy with that. The three he no doubt wanted NOW are Gundongan, Stones and Sane.

We will end up paying 50 mill as not to do so would scupper Pep's plans.

Transfer-wise it's been a poor summer*. This SHOULD turn on its head the next week or so, though we've been saying that for a couple weeks in a row now.

Not going to throw all the toys out the pram now since it's not even August, but squad as it stands right now is no better than it was in May. Just older. Better coached, mind.
