Dont forget article 17 which says provided the player is 3 years into his contract then he can buy out the rest based on his wages and original transfer value so his value will reduce significantly over the next 2 years

I believe the phase I don't want to go to Chelsea was used

Other stories clearly suggest he would have gone! Not that it matters. What does is that he has appeared keen to join City for some time and Pep wants him. Just need a bit of sense over the deal. I'd hope that an initial fee plus bonuses arrangement could be agreed, which really is the fairest way to go when huge sums are involved for a young player but what's fair got to do with it?

Cheers mate. I honestly don't get why your club and some fans are baulking at the £50 mill fee, its 2016 not 2012 - he will prove to be worth every penny.

It comes down to supply and demand and always has done with transfers. You have a price, if we dont like it, we walk. I do think agreement will be reached though and maybe we will never know the actual price.

Are you on about future england captain"big" phil jones! He was a bargain at twice the price, heard he picked utd (where he came through the famed academy of course) over us, real and barca!

I think because many of us arent sure how good he is. From the little I saw of him live last year I was not that impressed but obviously if our manager (who is better placed than me) wants him and think he is good enough then I wont argue but like everything a buyer will only pay what they feel is the value of an asset and no more
