Just cos they're all saying it doesn't mean it isn't bullshit.

But the thing is, we may have made a bid for Tevez, tried to hijack the deal. You don't know, I don't know. The issue for me is that they exaggerate everything, and that is their job- to be sensationalistic.

I would be prepared to read this as a bad sign if anyone at all could offer an explanation as to what would make Terry want to wait any longer to confirm his intention (in principle) to stay. The lazy media can't be arsed to look at both sides of this story.
Bet you any money he's asked for a transfer. This is a hunch not an itk statement.

Just cos they're all saying it doesn't make it so.

very true pam, I'm just preparing to let go of this one, as the signals in our favour seem to have got weaker as time passes.

my explanation not good enough? :/

If he confirmed he was staying now, sorting out his contract, listening to him and keeping him happy suddenly becomes a much lower priority for chelsea.

Well, it might take a while to negotiate a contract extension in line with what John Terry wants and maybe slightly comparable to what City are offering, while at the same time preparing for a new season, doing press in the USA and other PR opportunities, agreeing new contracts with several players and negotiating transfers in and out of the club. It probably takes time, and this wouldn't be helped if Terry, his agent and the Chelsea board were playing hard ball.

Terry would keep quiet so not to hurt his chances of making more money at Chelsea or City as a last resort.

I read it exactly the opposite way, bizzbo. Until John Terry stops ducking the question, there is no need to jump to any conclusions but I just can't see what he's waiting for, can you?

The Independent is the only paper swimming against the tide:

Chelsea are increasingly confident that John Terry will be the next major Stamford Bridge figure to pledge his commitment to new manager Carlo Ancelotti. But Manchester City were standing their ground last night and refusing to concede the England captain is lost to them. They have been given no sense whatsoever that Terry is intent on staying put.

Chelsea are expecting Terry to make a public statement about his intentions in the next few days and with a feeling that negotiations for an improved deal might take place when Chelsea return to Britain. But as of last night, the positive messages from Ancelotti and Drogba about Terry had not engendered any pessimism around the City contingent on tour in South Africa, and the current belief in their camp is that the next seven days will be decisive.

The club feel they have received so many signals about Terry's readiness to make the move that there is bafflement that the issue has dragged out so long.

he would have been a fantastic signing for us and its great credit to city now that players of JT's class would consider us even if it was just for the money.

its time to move on now as this one has just got the fat lady out and is airing her lungs to start her singing as i feel tomorrow(thursday) terry will put this one to bed once and for all.

to be honest i will be glad once this is over.

Same mate, I can't wait for this to be over. I just want all the new signings in as far in advance of the Blackburn game as possible so we can have a settled team and hit the ground running, and hopefully have a great season!
