Jonny Evans

So Tosin, Denayer and Mangala are all worse than a 30 year old past his best ex united defender ?

Doesn't say much for our recruitment in that department does it , we've had another two seasons of not really improving the CB personnel at the club and will no doubt give Evans a three year contract out of desperation to bring one in.

Sadly you'll get shit for this. But it's the right answer.

Who wants to be going into the CL games with Jonny Evans. This not a league cup signing. With 3 at the back. He'll play the minute one CB is injured.

Gotta love the "he's actually not the bad" brigade...if the rags were buying him back or Liverpool were buying him instead of VVD they would be taking the piss big time. He's a bang average defender that wouldn't even remotely suit the way we play.

He's not shit. Yes, he can defend. Yes, he's homegrown. Yes, he has experience. I still don't want him.

He is a United fan and ex-United player, he's pretty average on the ball, he's not left footed, he can't play left back, he's had serious injury problems in the past, he's 29 years old, I've never seen him play in a back 3. Not to mention he currently plays in a very defensive Pulis side, usually with 3 other centre backs in the back 4 and 2 holding midfielders infront of him. How is he gonna look when he's exposed on the counter in a high line with our full-backs/wing-backs commited?

Look, if he signs I will back him and support him like every other City player but there's better out there and we should be looking for it.
I was struggling to see why anyone thinks there's nobody better for that money, point being he has never shown he does have the passing game in his locker, Tosin is already above him in that respect and will only improve.

It all comes down to his experience and his defending but we need more than just decent defending, I wouldn't feel confident of a win with Evans on the team sheet, not that we'd lose but we'd lose some of our effectiveness playing out from the back. I don't want City to risk losing Tosin who might have been looking forward to challenging for a spot over the next season, as Pep says when they are good enough they are ready and he looked more than comfortable in pre-season, every bit as much as Foden in his position.
