Well lets just put this out there replace the name Evans with any other name and you get the same answer. Not sure what your point is ?
 
We need a 4th choice CB, no way will the likes of VVD come to sit on bench and think it's clear that Pep wants Vinnie and Stones as 1st choice pair. If Vinnie gets injured then Evans has the experience to slot in alongside Stones. Wouldn't be too bad a signing. 18 mill is daft though

Sort of implies you think Evans has leadership qualities. A player jettisoned to, at best a middle of the league side from a team unable to get in the top5
 
I know this isn't saying much but I'm watching Barcelona right now and thinking Evans can't be worse than this Umtiti guy.

Hahaha,joking aside mate is it because he played for the rags that has this thread in overdrive,it's a couldn't care less signing but on a serious note he's a hell of a lot better than mangala and tosin ( who could do with being loaned out for experience) so what's the problem if he signs it's not as if he plays week in week out,unless we get injuries to cb's ..

Evans is captain of a team that massively over-performed last season on a relatively tiny budget and with a playing style that lives or dies on its defensive organisation, motivation and concentration- in other words, its leadership. I do think he has leadership qualities- in fact I think the armband he wears is a pretty good indicator of that.
 
For all the hysterics I haven't seen anyone suggest someone else we can get at this juncture to fill a homegrown spot, who'd accept being fourth choice, has premiere league experience, and can be had for £20mm. He's fine, and he'll be fine. We don't have an unlimited budget and are clearly looking to bring in a forward as well
