Jose for City? (merged)

Re: If you were Jose.... & you got the city job...

I doubt whether even Mourinho could tempt the likes of Messi to this country ....

and if Ronaldo ever did return here it would probably be to the rags , i think they have first option , and are hardly likely not to want him , even if they couldn't afford him!

But yes , there are one or two players in our squad who clearly need replacing .... if only for lack of consistency!

Unfortunately I think if Jose has a choice between us and Chelsea, he would go for his old club, for several reasons: He has already said he still loves them and doesnt like to play against them. He has spoken warmly about returning to London and he still has a house there. He is a family man and the culture, shopping, entertainment etc of London are better than Manchester. He is a born winner and they have a better record of success with and without him.

Having said all this I still think he has tried to line up the United job as Fergie's successor and Fergie will have the biggest say in who succeeds him.

I'd agree with all of that ......

the only trouble for him being Fergies unequalled record at Old Trafford ...... if Mourinho couldn't keep that going , rag fans would quickly get disgruntled , and questions would be asked about his ability , or whether he was the right choice ....... rag fans would not only be placing expectations on him because of his reputation , but they'd also demand that matched their own expectations of their own club and their (ex) manager (Fergie) , and that means constant honours ........he wouldn't have any other option , if he went there , than to 'instantly' keep it going ...... and he needs to realise that first and foremost!

He'd be under almost as much pressure there as he would be if he took the City job ...... where he'd simply be expected to better what Mancini has so far far failed to do!

There's one big problem about him going back to Chelsea. He would expect a cringing apology from Abramovich and a promise not to interfere in team affairs and that is from the man's own mouth not my supposition. Whether it was sarcastic/rhetorical or not I don't know.

It's better to have loved and lost....

It is, but loving and losing to your arch nemesis and watch them live a wonderful life for ever more whilst rubbing your nose in it every day!?

Though the point I was making was more to do with the thought of winning a title with City and Trafford supposedly adding spice to Jose's thoughts - I doubt that thought has crossed his mind

So you don't go out with a beautiful girl because you're worried one day she might dump you for your flashier neighbour?

Naw. You have confidence in your own ability to be more charming, endearing (and not to mention rich) than that arrogant wanker.

That's the same as anyone else who'll follow bacon face, the only difference between them and Mourinho is that Mourinho is clearly the most suitable man for the job and the odds of him not being successful at united are slim and none

-- Wed Mar 23, 2011 12:33 pm --

That wasn't the point. If Mourinho wanted to come to us I wouldn't turn him down because he might go to united one day (I'd snap his arm off), I was responding to fblokes comment about Jose might be enticed by the spice of winning the league with both us and Trafford. As I said, I doubt that's crossed his mind and if it did it would not be a major factor in his decision on where he's going to go next

JM would only return to chelski if abramovic had a complete personality transplant and promised never to interfere in team-matters ever again whilst eating humble pie.Abramovic doesn't do humble.Hiddink did very well in tempory charge there and is a close friend of red-rom.He just didn't want the job permanently at the time.He might do now though.
The only way JM would take the job in stretford is if the Qatar royal family took over offering a big budget, with a promise of no interference from the hard-shoulder-shitter. Spuds and liverpool are outsiders,so I think we'd be favourites because it would massage his over-inflated ego. It's a massage that comes with "extras".
