If we pay £80m+ for a player with that injury record we’re fucking stupid! In fact, we shouldn’t even looking to buy a player with an injury record like that, full stop.

Nowhere near as good as Maguire, he lacks his pace and ball control.
I imagine Pep wants an Otamendi replacement - a more combative option to supplement a refined partner that we’ve lacked since Kompany’s departure/Ota’s decline.
What’s interesting to me is that the club has signed a left sided utility defender in Ake, and also primarily targeted another defender who plays almost exclusively on the left in Koulibaly - perhaps they know Laporte is crocked, and are either preemptively covering for his absence, or perhaps even decline and departure.
Buy Koulibaly, swap Gimenez for Laporte?

Thank Fuk for that ....Nowhere near as good as Maguire, he lacks his pace and ball control.

Although Maguire will play every week, whereas this feller will be lucky to play 1 in 3. Given that I’m just surprised that they didn’t snap our hands off, if the news of bidding 90m is anywhere near accurate.Nowhere near as good as Maguire, he lacks his pace and ball control.
In a vacuum would you rather spend the 90 on kk at 29 or Gimenez at 25? I hear your concerns with injuries and such but I’d still lean towards GimenezI see your logic but I’d want a discount for an injury prone player.
(I’ve only just got over the Roque Santa Cruz signing although, to be fair, that was beyond stupid even at the time.)
I have to admit I’ve hardly seen either player. In a vacuum, and at that price, both have a big question mark. If KK is clearly the superior player, it might be one signing where we take a short term view to plug an obvious gap. Sounds like he might cost €10k or €20k less, too.In a vacuum would you rather spend the 90 on kk at 29 or Gimenez at 25? I hear your concerns with injuries and such but I’d still lean towards Gimenez

Hoover we choose he needs to be quick and good in the air.
Gimenez as then we don't have to deal with that fuckwit from Napoli anymore. He can keep Koulibaly and his stupid fee demands. In a vacuum would you rather spend the 90 on kk at 29 or Gimenez at 25? I hear your concerns with injuries and such but I’d still lean towards Gimenez

Why? Gimenez is 25, Koulibaly is 29. They are both top defenders
Have you seen Koulibalys slidetackles?
They are fucking fantastic. I’m sure this guy also knows how to time them. Since when is a slide tackle a bad thing?
If there is the remotest chance Gimenez is injury prone, leave well alone.Buying players with known injury concerns has always worked out well for us.......!
Crocky, Rodwell, Mendy.......
