Jose Mourinho.

Apart from Hughes saying so is there anything to suggest that he's some kind of extraordinary club builder?

Blackburn now are in worse shape than when Souness left, and while he did well with them I'm struggling to see the lasting legacy of Hughes time there. Don't recall a load of kids coming through the ranks, and I don't think that they're any better placed for sustained success as a result of his time there.

how in the hell do you blame hughes for what has happened at blackburn since he left?

hughes left blackburn a very steady ship finishing 7th last season, what ever shape he left blackburn in which to me looked good was all fooked up by the blacburn board getting in a cheap inexperienced manger called paul ince.

moomba you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel on this one!

gotta agree on this one..
Blackburn have been pretty steady for the last 2 (european place also as far as I`m aware...)years. Decent cup runs too.
He cant be blamed for him leaving, the board panicking and picking a manager who wasnt successful...thats a ridiculous argument.

Hughes has his faults..attack them, not something he has no control over.
I`m quite sure when Baconface leaves OT they simply wont be as good for a few seasons, and whilst I am not comparing Baconface to Hughes, I am using him as the fact he is currently regarded as one of the best managers ever..and you wouldnt blame Baconface if the season after his leaving those at the swamp didnt perform.

hughes left blackburn at the right time, several contracts were coming to an end, there was no money and bentley had to be sold. to me that actually displays some intelligence.

i just dont believe for a mintue that he is anywhere mourinho's level when it comes to decision making, setting up a team, or communicating and leading a group of players. maybe he will one day, but if it was my 150m, i'd be happier giving it to a proven winner, rather than hoping that my manager might make the leap up to the next level. hughes will buy well enough, but ADUG aren't interested in buying players as much as buying success. and let's face it, above 10-15m a player, it's pretty hard to go that far wrong. there arent many unknowns in the market place at that level.

I'm thinking give hughes another season now, but if jose becomes available you have to take him as you won't have another chance.
I have said this a few time the "special one" will not come to us until we look like we are serious challengers for honours he is good at that and what he does. He aint interested in "projects" Thats not enough for his ego he wants clubs that are just about to win things, in he steps gets the glory and continues the legend of the "special one"

I personally am not in direct contact with the "special one" on a daily basis so I can't with any conviction state that he won't come to us.

However you may have a point

But if we have, or are going to have, discussions with him I do not know what will be offered. Hypothetically, I don't know what he would say to an offer of a £5 million pay rise and an unlimited transfer budget to sign any player he wants. He could well decided it too much of a risk and could damage his image. However he could look at it as an opportunity to build the best team in the world (EGO speaking) and a chance to complete the writing of his own legend.

At the end of the day until he announces to the press and the world that he's not coming there is still a chance of getting him, however small that maybe.

Does anyone see Hughes as an inspirational manager?

interesting question

Not sure ..... there must be something there as he's still a manager and hasn't done to bad with Wales and Blackburn and we are appearing to be turning a corner

Does anyone see Benitez as one? Was Tony Book inspirational?

A manager has to get the best out of the players and make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. Everyone does that in their own way. They don't necessarily have to be Martin Luther King.

I thought you were intelligent - worst post I've ever read, I'm from near Blackburn and all the Rovers fans I know (a lot) would have MH back right now. How on earth you can blame him for their current situation is beyond me - as for the people who want Jose, if he comes get ready for a lot of boring football, he may be a winner but his Chelsea team sent me to sleep.
