It’s always difficult to judge a defensive player against us, certainly at the Etihad at least. Ultimately they defend as a team, and that result isn’t purely down to him.

Didn't handle crosses particularly well. Plenty of work needs to be done with him which we really afford if Laporte is leaving in the summer. Bring in an alternative is the better bet for now and if he improves at RB Leipzig then pay his release clause.

I don’t think he is a bad player and I don’t think he can really be blamed for tonight. The only problem with him is the prices being quoted for him. I would personally not go above £70m for him.

So Bellingham is shit after the other night and Gvardiol is shit now because of one game where we were a million levels above them!?
I don’t think the general consensus is he’s shit, more that he seems to have a lot of shortcomings for someone who’d possibly become the most expensive defender in the history of the game.

Wasn’t particularly at fault for any of the goals but also doesn’t really stand out even in the first leg
He wasn’t, but you can’t dismiss at the amount of times he gets turned. I thought Messi doing him at the World Cup was just because of Messi’s brilliance, but he’s definitely prone to getting left for dead.

We trust pep and Txiki Begiristain :-)
We said that about Mangala (I am serious about that statement). All he has is potential and looked shaky in the two games he played against us for starters. Even Reading about him on the RB Leipzig forum says he is far from the real deal.
