I disagree. I think our recruitment has been poor as it goes. We didn’t get a centre back the year kompany left and didn’t bring in a forward last year. It was obvious we were balls deep for kane but for whatever reason didn’t work out. We looked very light at times this season.

Last year we bought In Grealish for 100 million which although he has done ok and I quite like him I think 100 million was too much and there were alternatives that were a lot cheaper.

Year before was Torres/Ake and Dias. I would only count Dias as being a success. Torres showed glimpses of what he could do but left a year later.

Ake at 50 million is again too much for essentially a fourth choice centre back. He’s done better this season but I wouldn’t put him down as a success after two full seasons.

Admittedly Haaland and Alvarez look to be a top piece of business this year but the last few have been very underwhelming when you consider we have lost sane/kompany/Fernandinho and augero.

Yeah, so that's why we should pay 60M£ despite being a back-up and not even try to find a better and cheaper player in Europe. This is simply embarrassing to pay that money while this guy is 40-45m£ at his best.
I'm not exactly thrilled by this but are you really the sort of person who gets embarrassed by a transfer fee?

Because you said people were obsessed with fees. The only reason this is the case is because of FFP.

Nobody knows whether the rumoured £60m is correct or not, but people will form an opinion based on that news. You’re doing it yourself by suggesting it’s fair value. Others think it isn’t fair value.
Unless you think the club don't understand either our financial position or FFP rules, why is it our problem I trust the club with our finances, I trust Txiki and Pep with our recruitment and therefore couldn't care less what fees we pay or what fees we get.

Recruitment poor for fucks sake, we buy the players we want for the price we want to pay
Spot on. IMO the recruitment is just poor and I think it is personal Pep's decision. He was a six-under Bielsa, English international and has played well during Euros, so let's sign him.

Not true. Almost always our transfers and the prices we pay are reasonable. This one simply isn't

If it’s a position we need in the squad the club will pay what they think is fair it’s why we been successful over the last ten years!

I just don’t understand the thinking of some supporters when you look at the facts in front of you with our recruitments and success on the pitch your first thought should be the clubs knows what’s it doing.

Anyway it’s peoples opinions other fans have different mindset it’s what the forum is about.

He's perfect for us he's been managed by Bielsa. He's used to the way we play, he's played that DM role in a Bielsa set up that isn't that different to Peps set up. In how the number 6 is used.

Kalvin can come straight into the team and know exactly what to do and how to play our way.

Iv noticed our targets so far apart from Haaland have been prem players maybe Pep wants players to come in who know the league already.
Bielsa got sacked and the club nearly relegated. They were one of the most tactically inept sides I have watched against us in years. I wonder if any more of the Leeds players that know how we play fancy a move?

I'm not exactly thrilled by this but are you really the sort of person who gets embarrassed by a transfer fee?
Yeah, because we could find a better one for a cheaper one and I demand quality from the club. We are not going to sign a backup, but a player who will play a lot. The idea of BACK UP doesn't work at City.

He is not at our level. Simply as that.

For 60M£ we could sign a world-class player, not Kalvin Phillips.
