Karim Rekik joins PSV on loan.

Thought the lad looked quite good against Chelsea in the post season friendlies.
Definitely looks more comfortable at CB than at LB.

There are few better leagues for a young player to develop in than the Eredivisie. It's technical and has good football but the level isn't so high that it can overwhelm young kids as La Liga can. Guidetti improved at least 50% as a player in his year there. And for all the talk about how poor the league is, Boyata, Elabdellaoui and Ibrahim couldn't hack it there and were sent home. It'll be a good challenge for Rekik - PSV have sold some of their best players such as Mertens and Lens, and are trying to put together an exciting youth-oriented team like Feyenoord and Ajax. They've signed Adam Maher who City have been after for a few years, but who wants stay in Holland for now. Jetro Willems also plays for them, a possible candidate to replace Kolarov when he goes.

Fantastic move for him presuming he gets enough game time. Should ship a few more out there too. great league to develop potential. Similar moves for the likes of Suarez and Lopes would be equally beneficial.

Well he did play at Portmouth, accumulating rave ratings. Think he might've played every game too (weren't many left)

Don't know what happened at Blackburn.

Might be wrong but was Michael Appleton not the manager who signed him on loan for Blackburn but was then sacked shortly afterward? Guess the new manager didn't fancy Rekik much so he hardly played.

Marcel Brands, #PSV technical manager has denied that a season long loan deal for #MCFC EDS player @Karim_Rekik_44 has been completed yet

Willems is a terrible player. He's been overhyped a lot and lost his place last year due to bad performances and behaviour.

That's one of the reasons why Phillip Cocu is bringing in Rekik.

Unbelievable how quick people can be write off a teenager. He's clearly got ability, a good physique for a defender and self-belief.

No-one can tell how good he'll be in 5 years time. Obviously he's not good enough right now, how many 18 year olds are?

I guess it's a by-product of the youth set up becoming much more open and available to scrutiny.

I read some people wishing youth/eds games were streamed on the website, i don't think it's a good idea, it'll just open young lads up to criticism and judgment much earlier in their careers. They should be left to play and develop out of the public eye and under less pressure.
