Keir Starmer

Can an opposition Party make policy and effect changes - no they can't - to do that you need to be elected with a working majority.

Best way to do that is to win as many votes as you can. You don't need to like everyone nor do you need to see eye to eye with every one of their views but if you can get that assembly of parts travelling in the same direction it will be a force for good.

Think of it like James O'Briens "footballification" of politics but in a good way. Think about it - we are all Blues and we have many different views on the club, some of the players, Pep and his tactics but we are bound as Blues to want the best for City

Not so sure where to start with that one:-) two quick ones the UK is not City, more Rochdale. But most importantly it would be better for City if we paid non footballing staff the absolute minimum and charged every supporter the absolute max we could get out of them. Ring a bell with you politically?

But anyhow some on here are glad we will soon not be Rochdale and are willing to be Gillingham. If the Gillingham owner is telling the truth that is but you have to buy a season ticket for 5 years before you find out.

Actually some are hoping he is a liar, state of our politics, state of us tbh.

We all pretend to want what you espouse. The question is how do we get these things and who, out of the two main parties is best positioned to move towards these things if at all?

In my view that is New Tory, so I will vote accordingly in my best interests. I assume i can convince you that you also want these things, that is why I want you to vote the same as me because im that sad and want to vote for something that wins.

Wow a bit of honesty at last.

In my view that is Labour, so I will vote accordingly. I assume, as you also want these things, that is how you will vote. In which case we are in accord.
Thing is Bob, many in the Labour party do not want what i espoused. They are comfortable with capitalism and the Liberal left opposes every war except the one going on right now and supports all civil rights movements except the one going on right now. Malcolm X described the Republicans (right) as wolves, you know what they are up to they are evil but they are honest they are not afraid to wield power when they have it, the liberals he described as foxes, less threatening but still predator's

Do want a fox, a wolf or a Socialist?

Come on Kier, come on Ange, lead the party to success and annihilate the Tories.
I do admire your willingness to bat for the Labour party, that was me once. I believed they had the working class interests at heart and as much as i despise Blair, his government did some really good things. I voted recently for my Labour councillor, sadly she lost, but she was decent and i voted for Andy Burnham who if given more powers through devolution could really change our city.

I like Angela Raynor, she is a real working class girl with an amazing background, I am not a fan of Starmer, and as i live in a Tory Lib dem marginal, i will probably not vote unless TUSC , the Workers Party or the Communist party field a candidate.

I would defo vote Count Binface :))

I‘m sure there are differences of opinion and even disagreement within the Labour Party on these points, nevertheless that is not the issue. The issue is, which of the two main parties would move forward on many of the
points you raised. The answer is Labour because if there is dissension within Labour ranks then there is outright hostility within the Tory party.

The options are always Tory or Labour and the latter is always more likely to be sympathetic on the points you raised. Therefore Labour is the only choice.

It is a simple calculus.
