Keir Starmer

So you want to criticise what @Chippy_boy does/earn to stop him criticising what others earn? The irony.

What do you earn/do? Guess what it’s none of my fucking business….and I also don’t care.
No, I don't want to criticise what he earns as I'm almost certainly not an expert in that field to have an opinion. He just chucks out random views and opinions and very rarely backs them up, although better than some others on here, I admit.

If you look through my history you can probably guess what I did before I retired following ill health. But I'm also not the one who is choosing to decide and announce that certain trades and professions are not worth what they are paid.

It's a forum with a certain amount of anonymity. It's none of your business what his job is or mine what yours is.

You won't find many who don't think plumbers who earn lots if money though.
The thing I've found really surprising - although not a new revelation, this became apparent many years ago on here - is the bitterness and resentment which runs deep through many of the posters. This manifests itself in a desire to not only see poorer people become better off, they actually want richer people to be worse off, irrespective of whether there's any benefit to anyone of that happening. They just don't like - in fact, it's stronger than that, some of them loathe - the idea that some people are loaded, and they would take pleasure in seeing money taken off them.

And that's where this bizarre situation arises about wanting to know my income. they cannot get their heads around the fact that someone like me, who is actually no better off than most other people on this forum, is not similarly resentful and bitter. I really don't give a toss what someone else earns, and if they earn a fortune, then good luck to them (so long as they aren't criminals of course).

The paradox is these narrow-minded people rarely if ever criticize how much e.g. KDB earns, or Khaldoon or Sheikh Mansour's wealth. That's perfectly fine, but is a.n.other business man is worth a hundred million, it makes their flesh creep.

Clearly not.
OK, I confess to being slightly irritated by it. But only slightly. What's infuriated me is his rank hypocrisy. He's been banging on about Tory sleeze and cronyism for years, speech after speech about it inside and outside parliament. And then within WEEKS of taking office, it's revealed he's been taking tens of thousands from Alli, who he then promptly gives a No.10 pass. Do you not agree that this is fucking outrageous? I cannot get my head around how someone could be so hypocritical and seemingly uncaring about how it might look. It boggles my mind, it really does.

The problem is we look at people based on our own perceived work, value and capability.

For example Mrs MB, if we are out for a meal at a restaurant, will think how long she has to work to earn the “tip” and if carrying a plate to the table is harder than what she does. I don’t think like that but her reasoning makes sense - I guess it’s human nature. Then you have your own capabilities - I can do plumbing and electrics, it then becomes a question of what is my time worth to me. I can’t plaster for love or money so will always have to pay the going rate if I want that done.

It’s all relative to the individual looking at it. Hope that all makes sense!!

And I hope your health is better these days

Is it really that surprising, given who they all vote for?

Some of them even think that Jeremy Corbyn is a nice, principled chap. So if you buy into his dogma, I would think that hating the rich (and certain other people, obviously) would simply be part and parcel.

Quote "Plumbers are grossly overpaid, just saying. But they still don't get to be earning £150k a year with a brilliant pension as they get more senior."

this very line you posted suggests a certain degree of "bitterness and resentment". You are having a go at both private and public workers, and apparently you're not happy with the conditions and pay that either of them get.

I actually don't actually care what you do, but neither do I spout on about how much certain roles attract, be it through salary or pension arrangements. If a train driver gets £65k, so be it and if a plumber get £300 per day, good on them, assuming they aren't cowboys, lol.

We should all want to see poorer people better off, and generally that will only happen through some sort of re-balance and that means those of us who can afford it should pay a bit more.

We all know that salaries paid in the sporting world have become excessive. Much of that is on the back of TV rights and advertising, and also that in the case of City, probably amongst the best players on the planet in those positions. i'll ignore the last sentence as for me, nothing could be further from the truth.

It does, and thanks for the thoughts. Touch wood it is.

As long as someone pays their tax, I have no issue with their earnings. And when I say pay their tax, there is simply no way on earth that anyone can morally justify to me that Sunak's rate of tax should be lower than that of a nurse, nor Only Fans be paying more UK tax than Apple and Starbucks combined. In such situations, there is clearly systemic work to do, and it is inexcusable not to do it.

All politicians are hypocrites and liars and to expect otherwise is wholly unrealistic. The Tories lied about taxes not going up after the election if they were elected, and are pontificating about Starmer now despite them being on the take for the last decade. So he’s a hypocrite and so are they.

What doesn’t appear to occur to you or any of those posting about what a shit government we now have after less than three months in power is the wider picture that represents. We had one shit government full of talentless cunts that got about 40% of the popular vote doing what the fuck it wanted for five years being replaced by another that got about a third of the votes, again full of unimpressive people who will do what the fuck they want for the next five years.

So neither fit for purpose.

Rather than direct your obvious ire towards the beneficiary of such a set up, it might be worth stepping back and considering the merits of a political system that allows such a bunch of worthless cunts to run the country off the back off such pitiful levels of electoral support.

All you are witnessing is the enduring decline of a once great nation accentuated by a political system that is anachronistic and ineffectual. That is surely what people should be angry about.

Starmer, as you see him, is the symptom of that decline, not the cause.
