Keir Starmer

It has to be a clean break and not one of Corbyn’s people. Phillips isn’t nearly intelligent or articulate enough, she’d be annihilated at the dispatch box.

Before anyone says, I’m not pushing for a Blairite, because I happen to like aspects of what Blair did, I’m happy for the person to actually be left wing, but maybe stay around where Miliband was and make sure they don’t have any skeletons from Corbyn’s closet.

Yvette Cooper would be my choice out of the list of people that are possibles.

I think bringing anyone from the Brown years back would be a mistake. Likewise anyone from the Corbyn project. The reason being they have already been rejected at least once by the electorate - thats what dogged the Tories post Major - leader after leader who were part of a cabinet or shadow cabinet the public had already said no to - Cameron was a clean skin not tainted by the past and thats what Labour need to find.

The party needs someone far less extreme than Corbyn.

Good point but are any in the running that?

I’m not advocating Jess Phillips in any way, but she’d not be up against Nye Bevan, Churchill or Lloyd George at that dispatch box......

No she wouldn’t but she’d still lose.

She’s also mates with Rees-Mogg, which will definitely be used against her by Tory shithousery.

A Long Bailey/Rayner Leader and Deputy combo set to be the choice of McCluskey & McDonnell. If they are successful you can add an extra decade on Labour's time out of power. In fact could be the death knell of he party - it would be that stupid.

Surely Thornberry has now shit her hole full becoming next leader after taking legal action against one of her own over alleged comments. White van man comments and photos your Ladyship? Should be thrown out of the party.

Lots of comments here and in the real world about how out of touch Labour are with the concerns of their traditional support base.

I am keen to know apart from Brexit which of these concerns are going to be dealt with better by the Conservative party.

Don’t take this the wrong way please, I don’t think you know what the working classes think nor want.

They don’t want socialism, they have a huge degree of patriotism, support the royal family etc. they want Britain to be independent of the EU, as you’ve mentioned.

They want investment in their areas and infrastructure to work but aren’t jealous of the rich, as Labour think they are, they want the opportunity to become rich themselves.

They want immigration to be curbed and for their communities to continue as they have done socially, in years gone by.

They want the UK to be strong on defence and law and order.

They see Labour as a threat to all of the above and middle class wannabe socialists don’t get it and they have no respect for them.

The metropolitan left are completely different to the northern heartland left.

It’s incredible to see the opening of parliament and Corbyn still sat in the leader of the opposition seat.

incredible.
A loss of this magnitude would see anyone but Corbyn gone immediately, all this nonsense about meetings, discussions, NEC and the same old waffling rubbish is typical Labour.
Fancy sitting opposite Johnson now at PMQ’s,
what on earth is the point of Corbyn now?

Thanks for that comprehensive outline.Essentially then they want all, and believe in, the same stuff as southern Tories.
