Keir Starmer

Well his latest advisors recommend more displays of patriotism and dressing smart & stuff like that: the Union Jack Flag, to try to get the 'red wall' voters back.

That may work I suppose, but what about the kids at the Pimlico Academy and people like them many of whom will be 18 at the next G.E. these were students who burnt the Union Jack flag if you recall, so they might not respond well to this new strategy.....

They might not be British citizens and entitled to vote though.

Behave.........you will be claiming they are not all Old Etonians next lol

How much it costs
It costs £1,012 to apply for each child.

You must also pay £80 for your child’s citizenship ceremony if they turn 18 during the application process.

Relatively expensive process (especially when compared to other European countries) and one which the government makes a nice profit on.

Just been getting dual Australian citizenship for my kids, believe me those figures you quote are a fucking bargain.

He will never recover from this (see below) the older generation (and we are a country with a high percentage of old people) have no time for this 'virtue signalling'. What about the other week when he sacked the lady on the right*(after a by-election defeat) a few hours after saying he was 'taking full responsibility' and then within a day or so had to give her other, more important jobs!

That's not leadership, that's just a joke.

*Well shes on the left actually, but on the right, in the picture!

Are you equally disgusted when Man City players do this ?

Look, that is unfair. In my opinion, sport and politics shouldn't mix, which is why there are Bluemoon football forums and Bluemoon politics subforums, I guess.

But for the record, no I'm not 'disgusted' when Man City players kneel before the kick-off. However, their job is to win football competitions, not elections.

Furthermore, I wasn't 'disgusted' when I first saw the picture of Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner doing it (oo-er Mrs!). But I did raise an eye-brow and think, not a great idea if you want to win the next General Election.... I also wondered if Boris Johnson would do likewise, he didn't as far as I know. Who advised Starmer to pose for that picture or was it his own decision? Because all the Tories need do is slap it on a poster in 2024 and they have the 'bigoted peoples vote' in the bag.

the problem is you view the kneel as political. it's not, it's a show of support against discrimination. there is nothing wrong with it - only bigots seems to have the problem with this and of course Millwall fans, wonder why.

I get that, but for many people (not me, I'm talking in general) the gesture is intrinsically linked to the #BLM uk movement and that is political, with aims such as defund the police, smash capitalism and close prisons.

So I still say he was wrong to do it and his poll rating and even the Hartlepool by-election result may have been effected by it.

Swallowed the whole Daily Mail spiel there my friend.

Can you set up your own thread to discuss your views as that's two now you've sidetracked over the actual thread discussions.

Please read my post again, I said: ...for many people/not me.

But seeing as you mentioned the Daily Mail, it is the second biggest selling newspaper in the UK and consequently he was asking for trouble with his 'gesture'. It might have seemed a good idea at the time, but I reckon his current advisors (dress smart, be more patriotic) would have cautioned him against making it.

Sir Keir's job is to maintain perpetual Tory rule.
Doing well so far then

Just read on twitter (yes i know its twitter) that Keith is getting ready to walk, it is highly likely Labour lose Batley and Spen which will be as bad if not worse than losing Hartlepool.

If he walks what happens next, the centrists will hissy, the media will be aghast, the left emboldened , the membership mostly celebrating, Corbyn back in the party.

I wonder what odds on next leader are, who is fit to be leader. Nobody stands out to me, the right will back Cooper, the left back to supporting Rebecca and we could end up with Jess Phillips.

On the plus side Hodge might finally take up her threat of leaving the party, hopefully for good and maybe take Ryan with her.

In the shadows though lurks Blair, what price a resurrection ....Even newer Labour, things can only get madder.

Lavery will be a candidate. Witnessed him at a meeting last week making the blarites in there uncomfortable. The more I think about it what he said the more it sounded like a leadership pitch.

Hasn't Lavery got a dodgy loan from a miners pension fund or compensation fund lurking in his past? If so then the RW Press will just be handed another feeding frenzy

Whoever from the Left of Labour will be attacked by the media if they become leader. If they haven't got anything concrete, they will just make stuff up anyway.

Its weird ain't it, Johnson does all sorts of stuff that a Labour leader would be crucified for, but we are told to move on, nothing to see here. Ed Miliband eats a bacon butty and its the apocalypse.

Lavery would be a good choice, the Blairites would be in a state of derangement, the media will call him a Marxist and liken him to Pol Pot, Kim Jung Il and Castro rolled into one and the Capitalists will threaten to move en masse to where they have hid all their ill gotten gains from the Taxman.
