I'm never sure about Foot. I certainly don't think he was a leader in the Thatcher/Blair mould but he had great personal integrity, was hugely intelligent and articulate, plus he had clear political principles.

Oh dear calm down!you need to accept other people are entitled to their views. With regard to Brexit, in the 70’s I was active member of Engineering union - AEW/AEUW. I was taught by some really intelligent Trade Unionists Scanlon being one, that the EC as it was then was a “Capitalist Bloc’ to keep down the working classes, this has proved to be correct. Politicians like Major, Cameron, May, Starmer, Burnham et al are typical examples of the ruling Capitalist elite who have encouraged the exploitation of working people. Oh I forgot Ted Heath who joined the EC without recourse to a referendum or the people of the UK.

I suppose the FACT there was so much dissatisfaction with the EU there was a referendum & 17.4 million people voted to leave. Added to that I don’t remember being a member of the EU feel like it was a panacea of economic stability & public happiness.

There is something a little sinister about Streeting and he’s too much of a career politician for me.
