All talk of this deal seems to have died as soon as it begun. With ESPN breaking it, it seems/seemed to have some credibility but there hasn't been a single word about it since that article broke. Is it a non-starter as I believe Honda would be a very shrewd signing for us in more ways than one.

The player who receives most fan mail at Stretford is - Park..!

A marketing dream.

You're right about it going quiet though, the same can be said for Vertonghen considering a 'report' stated it was a done deal.
It does usually go quiet on certain players and then they sign. Might be the same with these.

From a Russian football site:

CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda nets a brace while transfer rumors continue. According to the Japanese media, the Samurai Blue playmaker is likely to leave Russia this summer. Tokyo weekly Soccer Digest said Honda's departure was '80 per cent sure,' with candidates for relocation being VfL Wolfsburg, Liverpool and Napoli.

let's hope its gone quiet coz the deal is almost done. nobody from either club or the player denied the rumours so here's hoping.

Samurai Blue - i like it..!!

-- 04 Jun 2011 12:31 --

Keisuke Honda has played down rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool or Manchester City, claiming he is happy at CSKA Moscow.

Premier League pair Liverpool and City are both thought to be keen on signing highly-rated winger Honda this summer.

The 25-year-old insists he is content to stay at CSKA if he receives no offers and that if he was to leave Russia he would prefer a switch to Spain.

"CSKA are playing Champions League football next season so staying is not a bad option," Honda told Sankei Sports.

"However, I do want to test myself at a higher level if the opportunity arises. My preference is still to play Spain."

any news on Honda? I for one was really excited about getting him he is a big talent.

Dortmund signed Shinji Kagawa out of the 2nd division of the J League this season for like 350,000 I believe and he was incredible for them and integral to their winning the title. they could probably turn around and sell him for 10,000,000 right now.

It's not always about the biggest name. Honda would have a real impact at City I reckon.

I've been looking and there's nothing.

Bayern are closing in on Takashi Usami from Gamba Osaka though, another J. League wonder kid who is 19 and said to be exceptional. I hope some day our scouts can identify and quickly grab young talent from around the world. At least our Spanish scouting setup seems to be sound as we've grabbed Roman and Suarez, two top young prospects. And we have that scheme in Ghana that has landed us a couple of promising kids.

That is the kid I want :(

Seems he definitely wants a move........

Japan's Honda stuck in a Russian rut
------------------------------------------

Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda fears the brakes have been slammed on his career by CSKA Moscow and has called on the Russian side to let him move to a bigger club.

The 24-year-old shot to prominence at last year's World Cup in South Africa by helping Japan reach the last 16 but admitted his career had reached a crossroads.

"It's agonising," Honda, who has been linked with English Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal, told Japan's Nikkan Sports newspaper.

"I can't stay like this. I said I wanted Japan to win the World Cup. I was MVP at the Asian Cup in January but I'm still not happy with things."

The bleached-blond Honda played a key role Japan's record fourth Asian Cup triumph in Qatar, but CSKA have repeatedly issued a "hands off" warning to prospective European suitors.

As his star continues to rise on the international stage, Honda has made no attempt to hide his frustration at being stuck in a rut.

"I'm happy people give me credit after Japan win games. It's a great feeling," said Honda, who had a spell at Dutch club Venlo before moving to Russia.

"I don't mind getting a hammering when we lose either, although it can sting sometimes. I put that pressure on myself.

"But right now I'm in a rut still being at CSKA. This wasn't what I planned. If I don't accept it I can't live my life. But if I get too used to my circumstances I'll come to a halt.

"That scares me."

Just sign the sod and get it over and done with. He'll be great for merchandising.
