£16,000,000 is a lot of money for a player with one year left on his contract.

£25,000,000 for Adebayor
£16,000,000 for Kolo Toure

Total: £41,000,000

Congratulations. We've just funded Arsenals transfer activity of the summer.

Wenger doesn't spend money.

I'm glad Wenger's getting money , yes he may have to pay the rent off with it but he also may create another great footballing team. Bring it on I say , I want city to beat the best in a fair fight.
None of the big4 have strengthened IMO and for someone like me who enjoys watching good football that's a bad thing

I'm not saying they're not top notch, quality players. I'm just observing that we are paying Arsenal a lot of money for them and that as top four place competitors it could work against us. It's not necessarily a negative statement.

So dont buy any players from the Premiership as this will allow them to spend in the transfer market, it is obviously much better to buy untried players from foreign teams to play as this works everytime (Corradi, Bianchi, Jo, Vuoso)

DOH!!!

It does read a little negative though buddy. Personally I am not bothered about others, they are the right signings for us and thats what matters mate

Some of them, you mean.

One of them emailed Talk Shite and described him as "pathetically bad". Then again they would say that wouldn't they? And for some reason, he also complained about the African Nations Cup and couldn't understand why MH has now bought two players (almost) with commitments to that competition early in the season. Why should a gooner care about that?

Trouble with the fans of ther clubs is their tendency to decide that former players are shite the minute they walk out the door. We are as bad as anyone for this, though, in case anyone things we're any better in this regard.

John Terry is totally shit, btw.

Good grief CTID, lets walk before we run , let's get to the situation where we are in competition with the big4 and then let's moan!

No but for every one of them bad players there is Kompany, De Jong, Petrov and Robinho. Vouso was an unknown quantity by the way as he never made an appearance for us so we never knew whether he'd work or not as he wasn't given a chance. Jo seems to be doing well @ Everton. Bianchi is wanted by Roma and Corradi I'll agree on.

More to the point one of those signings was Kevin Keegans (Vouso) and the rest were Svens so that doesn't stand up really does it. It is other managements assessment of these players abilities and so far Hughes has proven a superior judge of player.

Wenger won't spend any of it anyway so stop moaning

So we should never sign anyone from the Sky Four in case they spend the money on buying themselves a new player?
What you on about? I couldn't care less how much we paid, we've taken their best defender and best striker off them

Apologies if it's been said already but he has two years left on his contract mate.

And who cares if we fund them, I would rather have players on the pitch than money in someone else account.

SSN: due to fly back from Austria for medical and personal terms talks within next 24hrs

So is he really going? :(

Just when his form is up and playing well for us, hes gone...
hahah^^^^^

Overall I have to say I agree with the going for proven quality route. It worked for Chelsea at the end of the day.

The odd punt on players like Bruno Alves would be good though not that he is much of a risk.

Toure would easily get into Liverpools back 4 as well as Arsenal. Hes just fallen out with Wenger and Gallas big time and they will get nothing for him in a years time so its good business. If he had 3 years left on his contract I very much doubt Arsenal would be selling him.
