It''s not entirely impossible with Barcelona's current situation but he will probably retire at the club.

Ooh hello

City believe Lionel Messi (29) is set to quit Barcelona and have become more confident they can seal a £100m deal for him. [@MullockSMirror]

Messi’s father, Jorge, has no plans to talk to Barcelona about extending his contract, which has 16 months to run. [@MullockSMirror]

I would get drunk for a week if we signed Leo this summer!!! Mullock is the most reliable source for city stuff as well isn't he? Maybe had a tip off?

If he signs and doesn't get injured for a very long time after getting his ankles snapped and offered no protection then I will paint my knob blue and wave it around at the champions parade

Mullock in the Mirror with an article saying City's No 1 priority this summer will be Messi.
The club believe he is willing to leave & that a100mil bid will be on offer to Barcelona.

We've had years of Messi rumors but if he's ever going to leave Barca then I would have thought this summer is now or never.

If mullock has said it then there is certainly a chance city think this could happen! No doubt in any situation that Barca HAVE to sell either Messi or quite a few other players due to their own rules!

Barca either extend him or he's going in the summer, it's that simple. He stays another season without extending and he's gone on a free, which obviously would be devastating to Barca.

Mullock isn't really saying anything new here. Yes, City are interested in Messi and would provide blaugrana with a blank check to pry him free of their clutches. Not many other top teams wouldn't do the same. The usual arguments that he'd pick City, like his admitted desire to play under Pep again some day, his friendships in the current squad and board and of course the money, are all well and good. The question is, why won't Barcelona extend him?

You can argue they can't afford it as things stand, but I'd imagine they would shed cargo from elsewhere, players like Rakitic, to make it possible first.

In short: the club are the best placed to land Messi if he leaves camp Nou in the summer, but it's highly unlikely he leaves.

You watch him and he doesn't do the pressing that pep wants he stands around a lot like Kinky did until they got given the ball and lights up the game.

Commercially for the club a brilliant signing on the pitch not so sure.

Not this shit again. They will sell their shitty squad players like Turan, Rakitic, Mathieu to raise Messi's salary most likely.

Can't see it, might even be a backward step, but it'd be worth it for the wailing and gnashing of teeth down at the swamp!

Agree.

It's a no from me, fantastic player but we should be looking at the likes of Jesus now, players who have the potential to be world beaters not players coming into the twilight of their carrears.

If this was a case of him being 27 then i agree we should be all oer him but for me it's time to look elsewhere.
