It would seem that Spanish law places great emphasis on what's actually written, rather than what's intended. So if the contract says he can give notice by the 30th June, then a Spanish court will probably uphold that. However, if it goes to a Swiss jurisdiction like CAS, it's entirely possible they'll ignore the actual wording and agree that the intent was "the end of the season", which was probably the end of this month under the current scenario.

im sure I read it’s actually worded up to 30 days after the champions league final, hence him triggering it 3 days after. In which case he’s golden, their argument is it’s usually June hence that being the month stated.

Another interesting point is that gettng Messi off the books at Barca could pay for a complete team refurbishment of young up and coming players on 5 year contracts.
Only 20% of the transfer fees would be amortised on the clubs books this season (transfer fee/contract length) and each new players wages would be about 7.5% of the great man's weekly wad. The benefits would be ongoing too.
I reckon they could buy 8 very good young players and still have 40% spare cash. OK the sponsorships would go down a bit but not by that much.

No, he didn't make a U-turn. He still wants to leave regardless of whether or not Barto resigns. However he is now willing to have his lawyers sit down and discuss it amicably with Barto - this is different to his stance in the past couple of days since he's been ignoring him ever since he sent the Burofax. Barto on the other hand is saying that he doesn't want to sell him and that we would have to pay the 700m if we want him, and that he doesn't even want to sit and discuss with Messi's lawyers. It's still all politics and strategy, nothing has changed.
