Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

Did we ever struggle to play the ball from the back like today ?

I remember when Pep first came, we struggled to play his way at beginning, but today was even worse.

Every goal kick for us put us in dangerous situation, every through out we find it difficult to keep the ball.

The team was disconnected on all lines.

Will Grealish or Raheem ever do well as a CF/False 9 ?

Its hard to understand Pep sometimes

Our best LW ( Foden ) is playing in the middle

Our best RW ( Raheem ) is playing as LW

Our only striker is playing as RW

Our 100m player is playing outside of his favorite position.
Sterling is not a patch on Mahrez mate

Love pep and he is a great manager at league level as his record proves.
He isn’t however an elite manager in the manner of Ferguson of Klopp.
Too many instances of hugely important one off cup games being fucked up either by poor team selection, head scratching tactics, baffling use/non-use of substitutions or a combination of all three.

The true elite managers can get their teams over the line in difficult circumstances and in one off must win games. Often by sheer force of will and personality.

Peps record in these sort of games is pretty woeful.
I almost hope we get knocked out by Real as if we make the final we will be schooled by Klopp again and that doesn’t bear thinking about.

Great manager, super guy, but a long way from elite and we will never ever win the CL with him at the club.
Just leave this here.

Back to back titles.

Have a great night x

Oh well, if it wasn’t for the Steffen glitch we may have been ok. And perhaps after 60 Pep was thinking of bigger things rather the subs.

And Pep has done

City 99
Liverpool 98

This year he and the teams had their hands tied with no senior striker, something the club has really let us down - and no excuses this summer needs boxing off.

Ah yes every time Pep fucks up its for the greater good even though in reality thats just wishful thinking.
He got it wrong today and deserves criticism for it.
Having said that there's a few players today who need to take a look at themselves particularly in 50/50s and I'm not talking about the goalkeeper or Zinchenko.

I did go and thankfully the journey home was quick.

The game was something John Carpenter dreamt up.

The error from Steffen was undeniably appalling. They showed it over at HT on the concourse screens and Zack just doesn't look at Mane. His dreams will be directed by Wes Craven for many nights to come.

I would have started Ederson for this game, due to their press, but I would not have expected that error from Zack and he should not be scapegoated. The defending on all of their goals was not good enough.

The the first two goals shook City; especially the second and they needed time to clear thier heads an get onto some sort of track.

Slightly better finishing and we might have salvaged something so the team deserves credit for fighting to the end but it's a bitter blow.
Cheers for the reply post mate; yes must’ve been a bitter one today.
If you’re contemplating Carpenter or Craven to take your mind off it now you’re back home, I’d recommend Carpenter every time; maybe something like The Thing! ;-)

The absolute state of this tweet. This is what we and every other fan of other clubs have to put up with by so called journalists in this country.

We weren't "missing" them though were we? Pep just chose not to sub them on not even in the last 15-20 minutes.
I know what you are saying but let's not forget the number of games recently and to come. Athletico and Liverpool twice each and more games coming thick and fast. It's a balancing act...for me I have to say that the PL and CL are the most important. Hopefully it will be a fantastic end to the season.

Fuck it, we'll just have to make do with the league /CL double - unless baldy fucks it up.
I know that’s tongue in cheek but both are still a big, big task. If we’re not careful we could well end up with the dippers winning two or three trophies and us holding our dicks.

I’d put them as clear favourites over us for the CL (but would still back us for the PL).
