Officials were terrible but it's simple really, you need to be able to defend to win the champions league and the simple fact is we can't

Why is that though? Look what we've spent on defenders, good defenders too. If those we have aren't up to it, we need to find some that are. Maybe Mendy will help next season. Walker is quality, no doubt in my mind. It must be the centre backs, and lack of cover they get. We need a beast in midfield.

Well I really enjoyed the first half especially but we just needed to score more. It would have helped if the ref didn't disallow our good goal undoubtedly changing the game. Should we blame the police, the refs, the attacking, defending or tactics? I can just say I'm enjoying the ride quietly confident we'll get there.

This is really what is turning me away from the game. I cannot say we would have won and gone through if we had not been shafted by refereeing but it leaves a bad taste, and almost a feeling of having expected this from the moment the draw was made.

Thats this and the FA Cup we have gone out having been shafted. Get beat fair and square no problem, but this farcical never ending cycle of bent officials is not right.

It makes my blood boil so fucking much. Non city fans won’t talk about how much the referees performance affected that result but we all know how fucking blatant that cheating was. It we get 2 decisions our way we’re still in the game. Fact is they fucking got every major decision their way. We didn’t even get 1. How can you win a tie against a fellow top side where 5 major decisions go against you? It’s impossible.

Ran out of gas in the second half and allowed Liverpool back in the game. Very poor defending again by Otamendi. Was at fault for the first goal ( before you start slagging me off watch the replay) and completely at fault for the second. He has been very poor lately and cost us a lot of goals. The biggest disappointment is losing three in a row with a very tough game coming up at the weekend.

I’m more worried about playing Spurs next.
On a plus side, the delusional dippers will never win the PL.
I really can’t understand that a team that is so far behind us in the league, spanks us twice quite easily.
Over the 2 legs, they were the better team. We couldn’t even get a shot on target at theirs, so we can’t have any complaints.

If the refs had got it right the first game would have been 3-1 (Maybe even 2-1) and we go into tonights game needing just 2 goals....
With home advantage I would have fancied us against the Liverpool that showed up tonight

We’ve spent £100’s of millions on the defence in the last 3 or 4 years.
There come a point where you have to look at the coaching.

We will win the league this year albeit not as convincingly as it looked a few weeks ago and so we bloody well should. We have the best team in premier league history, in the weakest league in years.

No doubt there will be the old cliches wheeled out about only one stat(goals) mattering, ref decisions being a poor excuse(pffft come off it... gifting illegitimate openers, not giving clear penalties,ruling out goals, just an excuse... in what world?) and the self depreciation to appear mature from the usuals.

But I beg to differ, in cup competitions you need the right decisions from the ref, you need to capitalise on the chances you have and you need your rub of the green... otherwise it's hard to play your best game and that's why we are out. How different would 2-1 have been? How different would 2-0 up at half time tonight with Pep not being sent to the stands? The answer is a lot different, game changing decisions.
