Seems some have a tendency to over react completely after yesterday

Lets just remember that this was only our 3rd pre-season game with many players not even featuring in the States
Haaland first 90mins after not even training normally

I think some people - especially those lambasting Haaland are going to end up with egg on their face
Haaland made some great runs but wasn’t picked out. It will take time and some work so that the midfield tune into this.

When this happens some teams will get a proper hiding

We looked fucking miles off the pace. Don’t think anyone played well.

Bernardo worked hard and looked the fittest, and we looked better when we hooked Grealish and Mahrez for Foden and Alvarez, but even then we still looked games behind them.

Don’t know what shape West Ham will be in but I’m not expecting much if they’ve had a good pre-season because ours has been non-existent.
Here's West Ham's pre-season.

They've played seven games.....

Bell ends being knobs? Isn’t that always the case?
Yeah but the post I quoted suggested only Liverpool fans are knobs. Far from it. Walking out a man and his young son was walking through the city fans, one beaked up cretin tells him to fuck off the Scouse ****. Quietly walking through with his son. But we stand on some moral high ground. Yes they have some horrible fans, sadly we do too

The more I think about this fucking World Cup the more pissed off I get. I think it’s going to ruin our season.

Looking at our pre-season, it won’t be surprising if we drop points in the regions we have at the start of the last two seasons (first 9 games last season we dropped 10 points, first 12 games the season before we dropped 16 points). But where it would be our time to catch up and go on a run, the stupid World Cup will get right in the fucking way!
Agreed. Building momentum - like we tend to do before and after Christmas is going to be really hard to do this season. Making up ground on teams who start the season fast is going to be tough.

Yep, I tended to watch his movement yesterday and the runs he chose were very intelligent, it wasnt his fault that the ball was not always threaded through - Kev nearly did but again I will put that down to us still being in pre-season mode shaking of the rust

Loved that run when he bounced robertson to the ground and got his shot off though - that is what he will do when he is at 100% fitness and game ready

Like you said as well, it will take time for the midfield to adjust to his ability but when they do then it will be a joy to watch

Oh and Alvarez, looks a live wire and showed his ability to score

It bodes well and we have nothing to worry about

Kev didn’t find him because he couldn’t pass wind yesterday. Absolutely dreadful he was. A few times he picked it up on the half turn, you see Haaland make a run and a first time ball would have had him through. Not yesterday as we was off the pace. If we start finding that run then he will be frightening

2 pre-season games before this match and the start of the season isn’t enough. We should have had at least one more at home or a short flight against a good European team. You could tell Liverpool we’re fitter and sharper. We’re starting behind again this season compared to many other teams.

Didn't see game as I was at a wedding yesterday, but it sounds like we were very rusty and lacking games resulting in a disjointed performance. Hopefully, we are better next week against West Ham.

Anyone thinking our number of preseason games is down to an oversight, or negligence in some way hasn’t been paying attention for the last six seasons. It will be a conscious decision based on the forthcoming season, which will be unique. These are the types of decisions we usually get right. The notion that Pep hasn’t been consulted about this, and that he hasn’t had direct input into the outcome, simply doesn’t bear any objective scrutiny.

On a serious note what are your thoughts on yesterdays match and the coming season? Nothing can be gained from that gane yesterday as city start slow in most seasons and don’t really perform in friendly matches. It would have been nice to have won the game but it’s not to be and we will have gained an insight into we’re we need to be . As for haaland he will take time to adjust to our play as will our players who will need to play ti his strengths and that miss wasn’t great but he also had one chalked off aswell . Once again both teans will go toe to toe again .

Carney..what a tit ..they would have been a penalty...''but he got his hand to it first""..said co commentator....'xyes but it looked a pen!'' Carcrash added... FFS what a shit comnent..very poor
All this nonesense spouted after a clear offside decision against the Liverpool player.

The media love a City-Liverpool community shield but I suspect it isn't helpful to either club's preparations for the new season. Liverpool were clearly much nearer match fitness and I suspect Klopp's aim is the hit the ground running in the hope of recreating the early momentum that took them to the title in 2020. Pep aims to peak by late September so that the team's performances from then on are irresistible. This served us well in the last two seasons but also in 18-19 and 17-18. Pep has had the better of the argument over the years.

Haaland has had rough treatment from the media after yesterday while Alvarez has hardly had a mention! Erling has little to prove - ar 21 he has already shown that he is a goal scorer of the rarest quality but a pre-season which added up to under 45 minutes before yesterday was bound to show when the margins for a number 9 are so fine. Alvarez made us all want to see a lot more of him.

So, the only question for me is can Cityfind that extra yard in time for West Ham?

You sure they don't just wing it?
There's so many posts on here and the definitely seem knowledgable.

Thought we looked rusty but nothing new there as we always tend to in C S ,think we desperately need to get left back sorted winged it far to long now in that position to good affect in the main but when you come up against top quality we tend to get targeted down there
As for Haaland he will be fine movement and runs really good but midfield was off yesterday

Going to take time for a difference in the system. Yesterday at times it looked like we was still playing with the false nine system. Need to get the ball forward quicker and get the best out of Haaland
