I also think everyone is forgetting about the World Cup in the middle of the season. A very competitive competition in the middle of another competitive competition. No one knows what effect that is going to have. Playing in a hot climate then coming back to potential freezing conditions. Might see some weird results in January

win at West Ham and yesterday is forgotten. Actually it’s already forgotten but you know what I mean.
The alternative if we lose or even draw a tricky fixture at West Ham , the wheels would have come off and Pep will be leaving for pastures new , it happened last season against Spuds , but it didnt turn out too badly :)

you heard from them was a truly pathetic and disgraceful boo for the national anthem which should be talked about more in the media
Yep, but, contrarily, they even make attempts to legitimise it! Matterface saying 'I think it's safe to say liverpool prefer their 'own anthem'. Bloody shameful!

Pep wouldn't be Pep if he were influenced like that. Some fans go with shit conspiracy theories instead of seeing the facts. Last season Laporte was our most available and reliable defender. He risked his health and played injured in the last games to help us win the title.

If Stones wants to be our main CB he should stay fit for longer than 2-3 months. When Laporte got that bad injury, Stones was so shit that Pep had to play Ferna at CB. I get the bias with Stones. It's natural, he's English, looks like a great lad, and so on. Nobody is guilty that he is injury prone though, or that he listens to his foolish anti-vax GF.
I know what you mean about stones,
but i would also give him credit to play in the last game of the season when he clearly wasn't 100% fit when the defence was depleted .
On Laporte he is a good player but i think he's a bit of a sulker & softarse for a centrehalf .
He rolls about like a fairy when he gets challenged screaming lol!

Not worried one bit about yesterday.
What should worry Liverpool and the rest is the look on the city players faces at the end.
Like they wanted to kill someone

the Dippers will now go into the season thinking the title is in the bag

Tbf, they aren't that stupid. But you are right, the loss may work for us because it raises the expectations. Klopp hates Liverpool to be seen as favourites for a reason. The underdogs position is well more comfortable.

She played for Brum 'n Chelsea and England - scored a crucial goal for England sometime and that has opened a few media doors. It will be interesting to note that if, when Steph retires, she gets any media work, if she doesn't go into coaching.
Thanks for the update , not sure that qualifies here to air her opinions but she's a lot easier on the eye than Keane , after that sexist comment , i must admit i a not an exponent of the women's game but will be cheering them on tonight to beat the Gerrrrrmans.
As for Steph she has apparently been a stalwart of the game and England captain so even thought she is associated with our club , which usually has its consequences , i can see her being an excellent addition to the football media.

Your correct , i was mainly referring to their rancid fan base , but they think it is "our year" every year , apologies for stating the bleeding obvious :)

That’s why I believe we need to get off to a fast start, get the points on the board

I can’t remember the last time I saw Rodri give the ball away that much. I think that sums up our readiness. Next week we’ll be fine.
Him chugging after Firminio and then giving up showed where we are fitness wise.

Players had prob had a really hard few days training-and will do again this week. We will strip much fitter as a result.

I was surprised Pep took KDB off just after we equalised, KDB always comes into his own in the last half an hour especially when the murderers asthma meds start to wear off, I guess Pep just wasn’t that arsed. Other takeaways, Cancelo isn’t a great defender, Grealish doesn’t do enough to stop shots coming in, we missed Jesus and Sterling supporting the full backs, not sure why Silva was played so deep. Ederson was very good, Foden looked good when he came on.
city fans were great.

We all know it's a glorified friendly but the reason I didn't want to lose to the cult is for the overreaction we're seeing today, the vile vermin are everywhere gloating. I see we're also getting hammered for refusing our runners up medals. Why the fuck there are runners up medals for this is beyond me.

It's far from clear that the WC would benefit more our rivals than us.

Liverpool will have fewer players at the WC than us, but 5-6 weeks without footbal...How would that help them? If there's a team that relies heavily on rhythm, it's Liverpool.

Also, we'll have many players in Qatar but how many will reach the final 4 or 8 is anyone's guess. The WC may help us, may hinder us, nobody knows.

Silva always plays there against Liverpool to help stop their press on Rodri.

Interesting that he also played there in the limited amount of pre season games prior-so may be a tactical change to get KDB closer to Haaland.

I’m not overly concerned based on yesterday.
Bit frustrating and brought us back down with a bump after what seemed like a good summer but some positive signs

overall we looked short of fitness compared to them which is to be expected, you could see we hadn’t properly gelled yet upfront which is to be expected.

Liverpool came in with a full pre season, playing a line up of with no new faces so obviously looked the better side.

Liverpool and city games are always settled by small margins the the rustyness would obviously play a part in the result. We held our own though for long periods.

Haaland had 3 big chances, for me the fact he had 3 chances against a strong Liverpool back line suggests he will be fine, I think the pace of the game took him by surprise and he was nowhere near fit enough to deal with it. He looked like he was blowing after 30 minutes. A fitter and more settled Haaland probably walks away from yesterday with a couple of goals.
I also suspect we may need to more pace around him as the Grealish and mahrez plan didn’t really work. Slowed it all down so killed the space for him to run in to.

One last thing is Ake is our 4th choice centre back for a reason, he’s solid enough but not world class. He is useful to have in the squad and I don’t think we could get a better player to be 4th choice but when ever he plays I feel we look more vulnerable and less composed.
