Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

Clarkie hunting?

Nah :-) Liverpools season was a disaster at home, how many draws did they get, if Rogers turns Anfield into a fortress again just as Bert has with MCFC they will be there or thereabouts. :-)

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

I wouldn't have predicted Swansea finishing 11th last season with that squad and also after we comfortably beat them 4-0 in the first match - but Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job and has arguably taken them as far as he can without any more significant investment. A move to Liverpool is a brave step as the job there is huge but he'd have been a fool to turn it down because it's an opportunity that doesn't come along often.

Good luck to him.

well if he had done a miracle and they'd won every home game they drew by 1 goal last season they would have finished 4th.

but they won't.

Agree, he has done a good job. Taking over at Swansea and getting them promotion to the Prem
Establishing a good passing game and consolidating their position in the Prem all in TWO seasons...Thats miraculous...I wonder if there was a good manager in before him who laid all the foundations for this to be possible.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

I can't see him moving them forward to be honest. I don't think it will be long before the fans get on his back.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2012

bad feeling with this one if he dosnt hit the ground running the press will have the knives out and the fans will soon be on his back, potential nightmare for liverpool

The Championship is an incredibly competitive division to get out of and 3 of 12 could've been promoted last around. Rodgers then had Swansea playing some great football on a limited budget - which proved you don't need to be a Rugball side like Stoke to consolidate for a season in the Premiership. He's a very bright Manager and well liked by his peers.

As I've said, he has effectively taken Swansea as far as they will go in their present form. Liverpool must be a huge challenge and one I'm sure he'll relish. I'd bet good money that Swansea won't find a good replacement and will struggle for survival next season which puts your point about the foundations laid by Martinez to shame.
