Liverpool Thread 2012/13

A lot of praise for our youth system should go to rafa when he completely changed the academy and bought pep segura and rodolfo borell from la masia , they are responsible for these players who are coming through now

i think the problem with city is you have a massive squad filled with players on top wages and big money signings , it's always going to be hard to give youth a chance because you have got a situation when even those big money players aren't getting their chances now so it's always going to be tough to get that balance between youth and experience , i think that new academy will help but then again you have to give them chances

Heard a lot about guidetti and suarez but how will you accomodate guidetti with 4 senior strikers who themselves aren't getting the game time they want , dzeko will not want another season as a sub

can personally see either dzeko or balotelli leaving freeing up a role for guidetti as third or fourth choice striker, from then on its up to him to prove hes good enough

some great youth prospects especially the rb/lb jack robinson???

why dont we give our youth a chance

Maybe because ours are not great prospects.

I wasn't happy with Mancini not giving them a chance but they don't cover themselves in glory when he does so he might be right.

one game, or a couple of miutes here or there isnt a chance ( btw basing this on mancinis time as our manager, not just this year) , they need regular miuntes. I agree that they didnt cover themselves in glory the other night, but did any player ? Hopefully when guidetti gets fit he will be given a chance.

I understand that but reading posts from people who go on youth matches I don't think any of them is close to be ready for main stage.

Hopefully Soriano and new academy will sort that, I wouldn't mind seeing some La Masia coaches at City, this setup doesn't look like doing good job.

Always thought Benitez did an unbelievable job at Liverpool. When he took over you were coming fourth, but there was no City then. In my opinion you were as far back as Totttenham are now. He managed to make you genuine title contenders in 5 years, whilst winning other major trophies. Was sacked far too early. He made mistakes in the aftermath of the 09 season, but still deserved one more year at least.

When will people stop going on and on about Carroll. Face it, he is not good enuff to be in a team that's aiming for the top 4. Rather than pay him high wages just so you can remain mid-table, it'd be better to just cut your losses and sell to a team whose goal is to avoid relegation or get promoted to PL.

On Benitez: As I hate to admit it, he deserves most of the credit for the current crop of youngsters that they have right now.

hard to tell really how good that win was today because Norwich are shit, but from a Liverpool perspective Luis Suarez bagging a hattrick and starting to get people on his side over these penalties can only be positive.

it's his second hat-trick at Norwich in a row I think (not completely sure but he scored at least 2 last year).

they need him to keep scoring.

Now that the Dippers are on the march after a brilliant away win at the mighty Norwich, I will not sleep for worrying about their forthcoming challenge for our Premiership Crown.
