The Premier League is the holy grail and I wouldn’t care if we never win another cup competition as long as we could lift that one high every year.
That was an unusual case. The problem for me isn’t so much that Sturridge telling his family where he might be living for the next 6 months, but the that a person can bet on such ridiculous events.Genuine question... I see the Ginger Pig got fined yesterday re his betting on fixtures where he potentially had inside knowledge. Sturridge was given until Feb at the turn of the year but I’ve never heard that his case was heard. I thought his file would be locked in a draw until May but it seems to have been shredded. Anyone know if he’s gonna get done for members of his family making a killing on him transferring on loan to WBA.
I’m still yet to meet a single city fan that would choose the champions league over the premier league, not one single fan. Even Pep himself in a rare break away from club policy of claiming every competition is as important as the next, stated he wanted the league more than anything too. Which makes it all the more baffling that they all genuinely believe there’s this mutual jealousy of one anothers achievements and we would gladly swap given the chance.
All you heard from Liverpool players after winning “the biggest competition in the world” was how they want to step up again next season and emulate what City have done, didn’t hear a peep from anybody at City saying the same about what they did.
I did say earlier in the season that I wouldn't mind seeing us win the CL over the Premier League, but at that point I think we'd just lost at Newcastle and I was thinking it was all over! But take those circumstances out of the equation and at the start of each season, it's the league title I want over anything else. As you say, in the wake of us winning the league the previous season, Pep said winning it again the following season was the most important thing.
Don't get me wrong, there's a shit load of kudos attached to winning the Champions League whether we like it or not, and a lot of the players in today's game hold it in high regard. For all our issues with UEFA and the competition in general, I was fucking gutted when we went out against Spurs. Luckily, I got it out of my system very quickly when we beat them in that crucial league game a few days later.
